This is my third boom mic set in 2 years. Because it is
not very comfortable, I am moving the mic up a lot when
walking and it wears out or the wiring becomes damaged.
I am also trying the ptt earbud and like it a bit better.
I am hoping they come out with a wireless mode.

I have headsets in 2.5 mm just like this for my cellular and my cordless - they do not even get recognized by the garmin rino 530. I bought the rino 530 headset w/ boom mic and it was always ahead of me - it was amazing how well the vox worked - it almost knew I was talking to the radio instead of people near me. I am very pleased and so are the other rino users. The rino stays on my belt now. I just use my OTHER headset for my OTHER devices like my cell phone, and it works equally well - I've avoided devices where the microphone is up by your ear (typ bluetooth) - people have problems hearing you above the noise level on those type of headsets. The boom mike is the only way to go. Put it ON your lips and you'll be heard loud and clear, plus you can whisper without triggering vox or swivel the mic away to talk on the phone.
