The Garmin screen protector is low cost insurance. I
scratched the face of my eTrex shortly after I got it. I
didn't want the same thing happening to my Montana. This is
relatively easy to install-just takes patience. Fits right
and I did not notice any degradation of image quality. I
do like the anti-glare properties.

There are 3 screen protectors in the package and I use them
all in the installation until I got the last one without
any small speck of dust or whatever under the protector. No
matter how well I cleaned the screen and used compressed
air to blow off the screen before I always seemed to get
something under the protector. But this is pretty much the
case with any screen protector you put on any device.
All that being said they do work well to protect the screen
from scratches and really cut down on glare. They cover the
entire screen completely which makes them hard to remove as
there isn't much of a edge where you can lift off the
protector for whatever reason. Be very careful to not use
anything metal to lift the edge to remove the protectors
because you will damage the screen and a plastic or wood
toothpick works well for this. The protector comes off
without leaving any residue to clean up.
I will probably buy another set to have on hand to change
when I feel the old ones need changing. Touch screens on
any device are more prone to scratches from dirt on the
fingers or dirt laying on the screen. They are reasonably
priced and so cheap insurance for your new Garmin Montana.
Made by Garmin for Garmin so you can't go wrong here. IMHO
