I navigate over 1000km of untrailed forest every year. The
old 76s are simple to use, rugged and integrate with all
software.

Out of production now.
Reasonably good to use on and off road.
Downloading a problem: requires card reader
Only one map per microSD card possible.
Garmin could take a few tips from Apple on ease of navigating
menus both on the GPS and the computer.

This is probably the best GPS I ever owned. I own two.
perfect for a lot of different situations. I use one for
hunting, hiking, and geocache trips. The other is in my car,
supporting my APRS packet reporting setup, and getting me to
any location in the US.

OK - there is gps on my Nokia phone, but it doesn't hold a
candle to the GPSMAP 76CSx. The only complaint I have is
that the battery charge indicator doesn't work properly, no
matter what type of batteries I use and what battery
setting is chosen. But that's a minor complaint.
The learning curve isn't bad, but still I found that
practice, practice, practice is the only way to learn how
much this device can do. My friends with more expensive
devices are impressed with it's accuracy. I also like the
fact that the device is big, a plus for me since I have
large hands and big fingers, and don't do well with touch-
screen devices.
