USED ON DROID BOINIC MOTORCYCLE MOUNT
Pros: ease to place/remove phone Cons: can't think of any yet
I have a Droid Boinic with an OtterBox rubber cover. Combined with the X-Grip I have a solid mount to use on my motorcycle. 500mi ride and the phone never moved. Phone is easy to install and remove.
The phone needs to sit off to one side to avoid pressing the volume buttons, but I am able to place the phone in a position that allows use of a phone charger and keep from pressing the volume controls. Perfect to use my phone as my GPS unit when needed.
Only problem is that while the phone is installed, I can rotate the arms (and rotate the phone). This could easily be remedied if RAM would tie the 4 arms together with little gears internally. Not a big deal... Since my phone sits off to the side in the mount, I just rotated the mount slightly so that the phone sits level when in place, so the phone doesn't rotate while riding.
I highly recommend for a motorcycle rider to mount their phone! '07 VTX1800 Tourer

UNIVERSAL MOUNT
Great item. I bought one of the first ones they had and use it instead of any others I had. My only caution is to make sure the centre bolt is tightened down. After first using the mount, I removed my phone to find circular scratches all over the back of the phone case. The screw had damaged the case as it wasn't tightened all the way into it's recessed hole. Other than that, it hasn't let me down. I even use it on my motorcycle.

GOOD AS ALL RAM PRODUCTS!
Pros: top quality... Cons: not exactly what i needed
I needed a cradle for my TOMTOM Go Live 1005 World and the X-Grip Phone cradle was the closest (no dedicated cradle available) I could use. Unfortunately it fits the GPS but not the plug wire, but I can use it on other devices. The quality is tops as usual.

Pros: solid grip, quality materials and construction.
This is by far the best universal mount I have tried. Build quality is excellent and holds my HTC phone very snug, while still being easy to adjust position and insert/remove from cradle. I see flimsy plastic junk at stores selling for as much or more than this, and the flexibility of RAM mounting options is the icing on the cake.

CLEVER DESIGN BUT BEWARE...
Pros: clever design Cons: iphone holding can be a problem
All in all, I'm pretty happy with the holder. It's a clever design that's easy to use. But we aware that for the iPhone, it's quite difficult to not have the upper left arm pressing against the volume buttons. That can cause some issues - there should be a solution created for the little rubber feet that would make this less of an issue.

THE LATEST
Pros: holds items in & out of protective cases securely Cons: not ideal for super-thick devices (1-inch-plus)
Better than sliced bread, this cradle holds digital devices well. It holds the iPhone 2, 3gs and 4s we have in our family, in a variety of cases, and two different GPS devices, as well. The spring tension is constant throughout the arm- travel radius, so every device that fits is held just as secure as all others.

RAM MOUNT FOR IPHONE W/CASE
Pros: holds phone tightly and can be adjusted Cons: no negatives
This RAM holder for the iPhone is perfect. It holds the phone with case attached and can be adjusted easily. It allows the phone to be placed in any position and holds it tightly. I am using the device in an aircraft with the suction mount. Because there is vibration all the time, a mount is needed to secure the phone tightly. This holder does the trick and I have had no problems.

UNIVERSAL MOUNT FOR ZAON MRX
Pros: solid rugged construction. Cons: none for what i am using it for.
I purchased this mount for a Zaon MRX PCAS, which is an aviation traffic warning system product. The MRX is about the size of an iPhone and is mounted somewhere on the glareshield of your aircraft. Unfortunately the only mounting parts included with purchase are for a semi- permanent solution. I needed something that I could move from airplane to airplane and bought this together with a RAM windscreen suction mount and the short RAM arm. Works great for this application.

USED FOR A MOTORCYCLE VIDEO CAMERA
Pros: quality construction, holds many devices securely Cons: device will move back and forth in the slots.
Like all RAM products, the quality is top notch. This unit was purchased as the key item for taking videos while riding my motorcycle. The camera is a Kodak PlaySport HD video camera. The reason for this particular camera was the excellent image stabilization, essential for motorcycle use. The HOL-UN7BU fits the camera fine, and holds it securely, but it has one minor problem. There is no locking mechanism to keep the camera rotating back and forth, which it will do. When you expand the arms to hold your device, it creates play in the arm slots. The camera moves back and forth within this play. So all I did was take a wide, short rubber band, circled it among the arms so that it held the camera tightly and keeps it from moving. No big deal.
But other than that, this unit can easily adapt to a wide variety of phones and devices. Good engineering.

UNIVERSAL RAM MOUNT IS TRULY UNIVERSAL
Pros: easy mount for convenience Cons: very easy to remove... rotates 90 deg... no lock
Great little mount for both the ipod touch4 and Cowon J3 on my motorcycle. Each unit is similar... but dimensions and control locations & jacks all differ. This mount keeps both very secure while allowing access to all features. Simple spring action keeps 4 point pressure on the long sides of many rectangular phones and media players... not sure how it would fare on small "square shaped" devices

BEST IPHONE 4S HOLDER AVAILABLE
Pros: stability, ease of use, adjustability, quality Cons: none
I was looking for a robust and convenient way to hold my iPhone for still photography, time-lapse photography, and movie shooting. This cradle works very well for all of these. The cradle holds the phone firmly, and you can rotate the cradle a bit once the phone is mounted to allow last minute positioning/leveling. Being a RAM mount it works with several existing RAM parts I already had, making the cradle extremely versatile.

GOOD, BUT...
PRO: this mount is really well made! much better than most, and it grips the phone nice and tight.
CON: when the X is open (as in when it's gripping a phone), the X swivels inside its base. when it's closed you won't see this because it's gripping the base, but open, all 4 arms share a common mounting point inside the base. it won't stay upright or landscape but falls to about a 45degree angle with my phone. the larger your phone, the more room there is for the thing to move around. :(

GREAT FOR GRIFFIN SURVIVOR CASE
Pros: holds phone in my bulky griffin survivor case Cons: may adjust volume if not aligned.
Since I got my iPhone 4 and Griffin Survivor case, I've been looking for a mount for my truck. I finally found it in the RAM x-Grip. It holds the phone firm. I've actually purchased a second one for my bike. GREAT OPTION FOR DROID
Mounted this on my motorcycle, to use with my Droid Charge. It holds the phone very secure, not a single hint of movement! This is actually great for the Droid as the controls on the side of the phone are easily accessible. As is the power port. The roads here in L.A. are terrible, but this holds the phone solid. X-GRIP AND SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE
Pros: robust, secure hold. can't go wrong with ram. Cons: none
Excellent product. Took a chance for the Samsung Galaxy Note. The dimensions indicate a tight fit, but there was enough clearance - 2mm on both sides - in fully open mode to place the phone in the cradle or remove it from it easily. The Galaxy Note fits even with a Nillkin TPU cover on it, albeit it's a bit of a tight fit.
The holder keeps the phone securely, even when driving off-road.

SECURELY HOLDS SMARTPHONE IN ITS CASE
Pros: securely holds a variety of devices, well built. Cons: none
The X-grip securely holds my Samsung Nexus cellphone which is in a hard case. I tried moderate shaking and the cellphone stayed in the grip. My application is in an automobile on paved roads and some potholed and gravel roads. The Android cellphone is my GPS. I have the X-grip with a medium length arm and RAM suction mount. It takes 2 hands to mount the cellphone in the X-grip. A pro is if the cellphone camera lens is high, it will have an unobstructed view out the front windshield.
