NEEDED A BETTER MOUNT FOR TOMTOM XXL 540-S
Pros: best out there and built like a tank.

This past summer I wanted to fabricate a custom GPS mount for my motorcycle as I didn't want a handlebar type.This also had to be a quick release system.The stock mount on a TomTom 540-S is a piece of crap as it always falls out of its mount and the suction cup leaves a lot to be desired. So by using a Ram mount B138-TO8U and some modifying of the windshield bracket it was a perfect setup.To make this system a fast change from bike to truck only required a 1" Ram ball mount B-202U mounted in the truck. Don't even have to remove the GPS unit from the Ram cradle ever. I live in Edmonton and tried to get some assistance here for a good portable mount system and what a joke that was. Finally a sales person from a GPS store here told me to try GPS city in Calgary. All I can say is "wow". They had an immense selection of mounts all in stock and better prices than trying to get something off he internet. Oh damn, I just realized I was supposed to be writing a review for the Ram B-202U ball mount. It works perfect..

RAM BALL
Pros: rock solid 3 screw mount to the dash of your boat
Cons: 2.5 inches of free dash space required
This was an option for my 30' boat mount - one that I ended up not needing - but for 6 bucks or whatever I ordered it anyway to give me some flexibility. It could work for mounting your iPad to the dash of your boat - for me the angles of the dash/boat and the limited space on the port side of my dash made it less than desireable to use this - but again that was more my boat than anything else. If you have the space it's for sure a great item!

SHOULD BE INCLUDED WITH AQUA BOX FOR FREE
The part is excellent. It offers great flexibility of installation and viewing angles - the Ball-to-ball with RAM is an outstanding config. Itemizing each individual part as part of the sale is chincy.

MORE MOUNTING OPTIONS

This ball makes a great way to hard mount. I have used it in several applications and like this. Our airplane cockpit has been challenging to find a spot to hard-mount anything, but this makes that easier. I screwed down an aluminum plate, approx 2.5" x 13", to the Right track pilot and Left track copilot track rails. Then placed this ball on that plate. Seems to be better than other combinations I have tried.

I have been experimenting with different iPad mount arrangements in our Turbo Commander. Has been a challenge. GPS City people are very helpful getting my questions answered and the parts I want to try. This ball will enable another mounting arrangement on the center pedestal.

BEST B ROUND PLATE
Pros: easy to mount

I used this along with the IPad Cradle Mount to secure my IPad to an articulating mount and 3" extension fixed to my instrument panel in my Van's RV-6A. Couldn't ask for a better fit!

WORKED LIKE A CHARM
Mount holds like a charm and it's super tough, I used it to mount my GPS to a 2009 Yamaha FX Cruiser SHO. 60mph on rough water... no problem!!

BETTER THAN THE PLASTIC BALL
Pros: feels very solid
Before I got this I had the plastic ball. It worked fine for holding a device in place but I had a lot of problems with vibration and bounce. I switched to this and it has eliminated those problems.

sturdy, what else need to be said. Likely tougher then most vehicles dashboards. I puchased several to move my gps and Icom 2 way radio from vehicle to vehicle.

DOES WHAT IT SAYS.
We have this in two of our vehicles so we can switch around our GPS unit as needed. We put 3 holes in the top of the dashboard to mount it and used black hex-head bolts with locknuts. It works like a charm. We prefer this on the dash to marks on the windshield from a window mount.

BMW GPS MOUNT
Worked perfect on the mount on a K1200LT OEM GPS mount point. The design allowed for the fit to the pre drilled screw holes, making a secure mount for my GPS.

SOLID UNIT
I needed a mount for my satellite radio, which was breaking loose from its cheap Best Buy mount. I needed something that was solid and could absorb the shock of the potholed roads, and so far this is working just great.

PERFECT FIT

I purchased 2 of these mounts to attach to 2 different devices. I only use one devise at a time and a single handle bar mount was used. I simply attach the devise I need with a simple ball to ball mount. These adapter plates are sturdy and all the holes line up perfectly.
