HAPPY WITH THE ITEM
Pros: good quality, good design Cons: limited vehicles that it fits
Mount fits our Toyota Tacoma very well and works to hold our phone cradle very nicely. This product is limited as to which vehicles it fits so be careful before ordering and know the vehicles it says it fits, are the only ones it fits! Other than that it is a good product and we are happy with the purchase.

GREAT MOUINT
Pros: easy to install, hidden mount.
Installed this on my 2005 Dodge Ram. Super easy to install. Took me longer to find my allen wrenches then it did to install this! For a dodge, here's the install instructions: Loosen allen screw on factory mirror, remove mirror, slide on RAM mount, tighten ram mount allen screw, slide on mirror, tighten mirror allen screw, enjoy!

INSTALLATION ON A 2007 FORD F150
Pros: good solid "permanent" mounting point Cons: no removal/installation instructions
Purchased this unit to mount my Garmin Nuvi 265WT in my 2007 Ford F150 Supercrew Lariat. Here's a few comments on the install and use of the mount. (For the record, I have used several different versions of the RAM mounts in all my vehicles for several years - I'm familiar with the RAM line. This is the write-up I did for the Mirror Mate base/arm/ball package from GPS City)
First the "Bad"
No instructions on how to remove the Ford factory mirror from the windshield to install the new Mirror Mate mount. After an extensive search on the internet, I finally found an article with pictures and instructions. Removal requires insertion of a 1/8" blade screwdriver to depress a clip in the factory mirror while moving the assembly back and forth. Not very intuitive. Took me about 10 minutes to remove - being carful not to damage the windshield. Why can't RAM include mirror removal directions (and a picture or two) with the product? It is NOT very straightforward without info/pics/etc. It is a great product....give us some help...
Now for some "Good"..
Once I was able to remove the mirror from the factory location, the Mirror Mate fit very nicely onto the factory tab on the windshield. Tighten it down with the supplied set screw and it's rock solid.
My Ford factory mirror has the small box attached to the mirror that houses the compass box. The Mirror Mate mount does NOT contact the compass box, however, it does somewhat limit the ability to rotate the arm fully forward. My Garmin 265WT sits in a good location under the mirror.
It does NOT appear that the compass box is affected by the installation of the GPS unit directly under the box, nor does the GPS unit seem to be affected by the compass box. The compass reads "true" with the GPS on.
Installation of the factory Ford mirror is pretty straightforward - it slides onto the "new" tab on top of the Mirror Mate. Now another gripe - I'm not sure this one is directed towards RAM/Mirror Mate, but more towards the engineers at Ford who designed the factory mirror clip. Once I got everything installed, took it for a test drive. The image in the Ford mirror is shaking around like a 10 year old after drinking 3 Red Bulls....Unacceptable. There is no provision to "tighten" up the Ford factory mirror on the Mirror Mate mount (again, any support/instructions/guidance from RAM???) After spending another hour tinkering around (remove/reinstall mirror...), I was able to find two small strips of plastic that I placed between the the Ford factory mirror base and the Mirror Mate mount to get the "shakes" out of the mirror image while driving.
Operation of the GPS unit while attached to the mount/arm assembly is solid. It holds the GPS firmly - you can use the "touch" screen on the GPS without the unit moving around.
Overall, I'm happy with the product - it provides a solid mount for the GPS in a "permanent" location. RAM makes good stuff. However, it would be nice to have some instructions on diasssembly/reassembly/troubleshooting of the mount. I find it hard to believe that my issues with the shaky mirror image are isolated based on the design of the Ford mirror retaining clip.
