Manufacturer Description |
The RAM-B-177C-GA7A Garmin GPSMAP 296 Series and Camera RAM Mount is a Marine Grade Aluminum Mount with a Glare Shield Clamp Base and RAM Custom Plastic Cradle. The mount is designed with a RAM 1 inch diameter patented rubber ball and socket system that has an adjustment point at the cradle, base and dual arm junction point. With a twist of the arm knob, you can move the Garmin GPSMAP x76, x78 and x96 Series, including the Garmin GPSMAP 176, 176C, 196, 276C, 296, 376C, 378C and 478C mount to your optimum viewing position.
Camera Cradle Design:
The RAM-B-202A RAM Mount Powder Coated Marine Grade Aluminum Universal Camera Plate has a 1.0 inch diameter Rubber Ball connected at right angles to a 2.5 inch diameter Plate with a centered 1/4''-20 thread. The plate adds support to thread, allowing a more stable connection with the camera.
Note: The male 1/4'' long, 1/4''-20 thread in the middle of the 2.5'' diameter plate will connect to the standard female thread found at the bottom of most still and video cameras. An alternative to this camera mounting system is the RAM-B-237 Male 1/4''-20 Threaded Ball.
Camera Mount Arm Design:
 The RAM-B-201-A RAM Mount Dual Socket Short Arm is a 1 inch B size Ball Dual Socket Arm made of Marine Grade Aluminum. The arm is 1.75 inches long between socket centers and is finished with a Black Powder Coating. The side of the arm includes a tightening knob which allows you to open and close the socket ends. Garmin GPS Mount Cradle Design:
The RAM-HOL-GA7 High Strength Plastic Cradle is designed to hold the Garmin GPSMAP x76, x78 and Aviation x96 Series of GPS which includes, and is not limited to, the following GPS units,

- Garmin GPSMAP 176C
- Garmin GPSMAP 276C
- Garmin GPSMAP 376C
- Garmin GPSMAP 378
- Garmin GPSMAP 478
- Garmin GPSMAP 196 (Aviation GPS)

- Garmin GPSMAP 396 (Aviation GPS)

All cables can stay connected to the unit while in the RAM cradle.
Garmin GPS Mount Cradle Plate:
 The RAM-B-238 Marine Grade Aluminum Diamond Plate is designed to connected to the back of the mount cradle. The diamond plate has a 1.0 inch diameter rubber ball connected at right angles to the plate, which connects directly to the 1 inch arm socket. The cradle includes the required hardware to connect the plate to the cradle. Garmin GPS Mount Arm Design:
 The RAM-B-201-C RAM Mount Dual Socket Long Arm is a 1 inch B size Ball Dual Socket Arm made of Marine Grade Aluminum. The arm is 5.25 inches long between socket centers and is finished with a Black Powder Coating. The side of the arm includes a tightening knob which allows you to open and close the socket ends. Camera and Garmin GPS Mount Base Design:
The RAM-B-259U Powder Coated Marine Grade Aluminum U-Channel Clamp Base is designed to mount to the lip edge of a flat surface up to 1'' thick. Popular mounting edges include a car side window edge lip, table edge or glare shield on an airplance.
The base has two plastic bolts that, when tightened, clamp the base to the lip surface. A RAM 1'' diameter rubber ball is connected to the base allowing you to connect a RAM 1'' diamter arm socket and connection plates to create the perfect mount for your application.

My fourth purchase from gpscity. Previous 3 went great and I expect this one will as well. I do feel rather sheepish though. This last week I've been combing the net for a golf GPS.
