EZ STRAP BIKE MOUNT
Pros: good quality & good instructions
Cons: strap tough to pull tight
I was disappointed in the long delay from order to delivery.
The unit is perfectly suited for my application, but there are a few issues:
This is mounted in a minibus on the grab-rail for boarding passengers, just above the manual door lever to the right of the driver. The bar is 1-1/4" diameter. It was very tough to determine which cut to make on the strap, as 1-1/4 is the "in-between" diametet. Erring on the side of caution, so as to not cut too much, I cut it to leave more strap to grab, but cannot seem to get it really tight and it can, with minimal force, slip around the bar. I can add a "gripper pad" under the mount, but not what I was hoping for.
Secondly, I had hoped that this could be easily removed from the bar on a daily basis, as the bus is stored in a remote parking area and we didn't want to "advertise" that there is a GPS unit on board. Unfortunately, the strap is quite tough for me to tighten, even with the sensible finger-tab on the end... almost too much for my old small fingers.
Otherwise, I'm pleased with the design/concept and the overall quality of the piece.
