RAM mount is very qualitative material. Robust, ideal to be installed on a motorbike! Little problem: the Etrex cradle presses the rubber protection of the GPS, such as it becomes loose after a while. Could it affect the water resistance of the Etrex device? I have the same cradle I used in the past on a non- colour Etrex, a bit longer and less wide. The problem was the same.

GOOD FOR PERMANENT MOUNT OF CRADLE TO ATV HOUSING
Pros: cheap and functional
Cons: none i encountered
This unit works well as far as holding a Garmin E-Trex Vista on an ATV underway on woods roads. Since I am into function and not aesthetics, I did not hesistate to drill two holes in the plastic cowling of my 2004 Sportsman 700 next to the speedometer unit. I then just screwed it on using the nuts/bolts provided. Now I can watch my trail map as I drive along . It is highly visible as it turns when I steer so is always oriented right. Preferable to mounting on handlebars where it would be waiting to get whacked or tangled.

BEST GPS MOUNT
I use the Ram mount especially during mountain biking. I'm really happy, he is particularly strong, and your GPS is completely stuck. I had used it last year from a friend during a bike tour "Across Burkina Faso", and that is what I noticed how strong he was during the rather rough ride.

ALSO AN ALTERNATE USE: TO ATTACH GPS WITH VELCRO
This cradle works fine for its intended use, of course. In addition, with a little cutting/sanding of its plastic back, one can attach velcro and thus hold the GPS that way. eTrex are not ideally suited to attach velcro directly to them, and for some applications, other available simple belt clips etc are not ideal.

GOOD BUT ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT
Pros: holds the gps well in place.
Cons: could tear the rubber on the gps if not carefull.
It isn't as easy to use as the one for the 60 series gps but works good. If you are not careful when putting the etrex in the cradle you could tear the protective rubber around the outside of the gps. It feels like the plastic could break when flexing the upper ears of the cradle to put the gps in or taking it out but hasn't yet.

GARMIN LEGEND GPS CRADLE
Pros: very light weight, secure
Cons: bunches - see review
Securely holds the GPS in place while allowing easy access to all functions. Only reason I didn't give it a 5 is that the spread apart fingers at top that allow insertion/ removal of GPS also cause the rubber surrounding the GPS to bunch up. This can be flattened out with a bit of care. I haven't figured out what the small eyelet near the bottom is for. Use it on both my motorcycle and bicycle and never had a problem.

RAM MOUNT
Is a very strong mount that snaps in very tight. I haven't tried in -30c conditions but down to -15c or so its still flexable.Mine is mounted on a 07 summit which I use for mountain riding only. Good product and the price is right...

GARMIN ETREX CRADLE
I have not yet used this cradle. I would expect it to perform as good as or better than a cradle I have used for many years for an old Lowrance GPS that I have since the design is similar.

Pros: simple, effective, well made
Well made unit, which grips receiver securely. The mount has provision for lanyard, which based on my experience with the Ram mount for the Streetpilot (unit bounced off on rough road) is a good feature.

ETREX COLOUR CRADLE
Pros: holds the gps firmly
Cons: design as to how cradle opens
Works well holding my Legend HCx but I'm not sure if the cradle will hold up. The two top pieces must be spread apart to put the gps in or out resulting in scratches on the gps over time. I'm not sure I'd be using this cradle when it gets colder out worrying about it snapping.

AS ALWAYS, IT WORKS PERFECTLY
Pros: solid, interchangable parts, very adjustable
This is my second mount for my etrex.
I bought the Garmin one and it didn't event come close to the Ram.
The best thing about using Ram mounts is that they are perfect for wind shield mounting because you can compensate for the curve in the windshield and they are rock solid.

ETREX VISTA HCX MOUNT
Pros: excellent product, awesome price!
This mount is over half the cost here at GPS City vs. other sites. I use my eTrex on an ATV with a Search & Rescue team. This mount holds my eTrex securely, no matter what the terrain is. I LOVE IT!!!

Purchased this mount for my garmin e-trex vista hcx, hoping to mount it to a current bracket on my motorcycle. It mounted flawlessly and easily, perfect sight-line for me. I am sure the mounts designed for this cradle would work just as easily. the multiple ways of mounting allowed me the freedom to use various attachments, for this is the reason I bought this unit....Thank you Ram mounts and GPS city!!!

NICE FIT
Perfect fit for my etrex Vista HCx. I am using it on my motorcycle and, even though the etrex is small, I can see it very well while riding (I wear eyeglasses, progressive type). You will need the "Plastic Diamond Base with 1 dia Ball" to be able to use a stem for attachment.

GOOD QUALITY
very good quality mount. Fits and holds perfectly the etrex on my motorcycle. A little negative point is the access point for the GPS is very tight and after a while it starts to crack, then break at the narrow point.
