I wasn't really sure what category to place this story in... Motorcycle or Geocaching. However, since it involves a modification to the bike, I figured that category would work best, even though it was geocaching that prompted me to make the modification in the first place!
Last year I got the middle-age itch... it was time to recapture some of my youth. What better way to do it than start riding a bike again? Since I hadn't ridden in many, many years, I thought I should start out with a smaller bike, so, after a little hunting, I was able to find a 1983 Suzuki Tempter GR650 with less than 9,000 original km on the clock at a great price. The bike had been in storage for a while and needed a little tlc, such as replacing some signal lights, changing the windscreen brackets and de-rusting the fuel tank.
Once I got her going, I immediately started riding all over the Manitoba countryside. This is what got me back into geocaching. It was a new way to get to caches that were more than a walk away and it was fun! The problem was that I had trouble navigating. I would have to get a basic heading to a cache location, pocket my Garmin 60CSx GPSr and ride. The maze of minor highways soon had me flummoxed and I found myself stopping more and more often to re-acquire my bearings. It was really bad due to the major flooding Manitoba experienced in the spring of 2011 with all of the road closures and bridge wash-outs.
For this year, 2012, I was determined to make my geocaching life a lot easier. After a search online, I found that RAM mounts would probably fill the bill for me quite nicely. GPSCity had the parts at great prices and were located in Canada, so that made it a no-brainer for me.
I placed my order for the RAM-B-174-GA12U package, which was everything I needed to mount the 60CSx to a bike. The order was made on a weekend, shipped on the Monday and arrived Tuesday. All I can say is, "Wow - that was fast!"
I had already watched the installation videos, so within 30 minutes of opening the package I was ready to ride. The only issue I had was that I tried to mount to the brake bracket using the spacers (as shown in the video), but in my case, the spacers weren't needed as they made the screws too short.
I took a quick ride and the mount works great! There is zero vibration and I was able to position the unit so it is easy to view but doesn't block my view of the road or my instruments. I grabbed a quick cache and came home.
I'm looking forward to lots of bike-caching this summer! I think I will also eventually put a RAM base and arm in my car so I can transfer the cradle/diamond plate & ball combo to and from both vehicles at will. (I should have got the Navigation package on the car, but...!)
Thank you RAM and GPSCity for a great product, excellent installation instructions and blazing fast shipping!

I installed a gps mount for 1490lmt. Very quick delivery. Sturdy mount. Very well made and well priced. The hardest thing about the install was balancing my beer. Took 5 minutes to install. Watched videos first. Great product. Highly recommended. |

| GO PRO MOUNTING ON A V TWIN |
|
|
GPS units, phones, Ipods, etc. are all relativly easy to mount on a motorcycle with Ram Mount devices. Camera's create a new problem. Mounting AND vibration.
I needed to find a way to mount my GoPro HD video camera to both my Goldwing and my Roadstar and make it fairly simple to switch back and forth. It also had to be pretty solid and minimize vibration.
The Goldwing was pretty simple as I already had a couple of ball mounts on it and it rides smoothly. It worked on the flex finger mount fine, both thru the windshield and around it.
The Roadstar presented more of a challenge, both in places to mount it and vibration. I had tried using the mounts that came wtih the camera on the handlebars and the lower crash bars. Both had incredible vibration, so bad it was nauseating to watch. The vibration on the lower crash bars was bad enough to break the plastic mount and I lost the camera. GoPro was very cool about it and replaced it for me but I wasn't going to mount it again without coming up with something more solid and stable. Searchin thru GPS citys selection I came across the tripod mount. As GoPro had the female side I ordered that and called to order the male side. They led me to the same item in aluminum rather than plastic as well as the handlebar mount and the long arm. While I'm still somewhat leary of the plastic female side from GoPro (paying attention Ram Mount), I'm way happy with the video quality I'm now able to get in spite of the V twin vibration with the mount on the bars, extending beyond the fairing's windshield, and resting against the mirror mount. Just need to come up with a good teathering idea. I can't post video here so you can see how much better it is now so here's a few pics of the mounting of both the camera and my smart phone/GPS/music player. |

| GARMIN ZUMO 550 MOTORCYCLE GPS WITH BLUETOOTH AND RAM MOUNT |

I love my Garmin Zumo 550 Motorcycle GPS with Bluetooth and my motorcycle mount. The display is bright enough to see in the sun and the bluetooth work great with my iPhone and Plantronics Bluetooth ear piece. Together they let you hear the turn by turn directions clearly with out wires. The zumo is easy to use and the software 'Road Trip' that comes with the GPS makes planing a trip easy and allow you to transfer the planed route to your Garmin. I love the Ram mount too. The mount was easy to install, and allows you to adjust for optimal viewing on the road.
Thanks again for the great product and quick service,

I needed a good Solid GPS mounting system, and was told about GPS City, and that they had every mount that I could ever want, and they Did !!!
First one I bought was in the Picture that holds my Tom Tom very very tight, and I can adj. it just the way I want or need. I have had tons of people ask me about it.
Today I ordered another Handle Base Mount, but this one has a Dual ball. I also ordered a Self leveling cup holder, plus a med. length arm. I got 20% off today for the Holiday. Sweet deal. It was like getting the shipping for free.
Thank you for such a good product and it looks Great on my 2008 Harley UltraClassic. |

| TRACKING MY RIDES |
|
|
I love my Ram mount for my Magellan Explorist. I have a hobby of mapping places to ride dirtbikes in Idaho. In the last couple years I have mapped over 30 dirtbike trails with pictures and commentary. I also use it on my street bike to document some of the best riding in the USA. I have also mapped and documented 7 rides through some of the most beautiful and twisty roads in Idaho and Wyoming.

| RAM MOUNT DUCATI 848, 1098 OR 1198 |
RAM mount on full left lock |

|
At Columbus International we have the largest choice of Ducati rental bikes in France. All of our bikes are available with TomTom Rider GPS navigation.
Due to the lack of a single handlebar, the Ducati 848, 1098 and 1198 models are not straightforward for mounting GPS navigation. We decided to place the supplied RAM mount left next to the clutch unit as this allows the rider to still read the speedometer.
It is important that the RAM mount ball does not touch the tank when the steering is on full lock. To then attach the RAM arm and TomTom unit, you need to align the navigation unit with the fairing by moving the steering left to right. The first adjustment takes a while, but once in place it is simple.
Hope this helps and in case of any questions, please visit us online (www.columbus-international.com) to send us an email.

 RAM Mounts = Angles |
 Everything seen |
 everything within reach. | | | |

Doing a lot of long distance runs, I needed good directions and tunes at my fingertips. The Goldwing already comes with LOTS at your fingertips so I needed to find a way around it all. I also wanted the XM receiver and Garmin on the same side but clear of the controls already on the handlebar. As these pictures show, The Ram Mount System accomplished it all.
The Pioneer Inno receiver it's XM signals with it's built in antenna because the mount allows it a clear shot to the sky although mounted close to the GPSMAP 276c. It's all about angles and that is what make RAM Mounts great!
Yes, two of the photos were take by me, at speed, but I'm not crazy. Clear straight New Mexico roads and a sidecar greatly reduced the danger. But don't try it at home! |

I've bought several items from GPS City and been very pleased with service and delivery. My Garmin 2730 goes from my Goldwing to Trailblazer in seconds. My riders group does the Virginia Grand tours and we see parts of Virginia that no one normally sees. |

I just wanted to show off my Ram mount purchased from Express Mounts, it holds my Garmin Nuvi with ease and firmly keeps it into position. I usually plug my cable to the Nuvi into my power outlet and off I go on the trip. It has saved me from going the wrong direction countless times from roads that were not marked but the GPS always knows where I am. Thanks to Ram-Mounts there is no end to the possibilities to how items can be added. |

| MY LEGEND MOUNTED ON MY MOTORCYCLE |
 Mounted on the Bike |
 After the tip-over | | | | |
|
I love my GPS receiver, and I knew it would be just a matter of time before I mounted it on the bike.
When I had a minor accident and broke the trip meter reset knob on my speedometer (which acts as a gas gauge), I knew it was time to install the GPSr.
Since installing it, I have really come to respect the technology that goes into these things, as it never failed me - until another "incident" in a parking lot, that all but ruined it. Amazing though, even after being smashed, there was enough of the LCD screen unaffected that would still display my speed and my mileage.
I could even reset the odometer if I could guess what my inputs were doing! lol!
It has since been replaced with another Legend.
Also, the speedometers that came with BMW's in the 70's were not known for their accuracy, so it is real nice to have an accurate speedometer. |

| RAM CLUTCH MOUNT FOR MAGELLAN AND LOWRANCE HANDHELD |
|
|
Both mountings are on a '82 Honda Sabre (750) Note the mounting of the RAM-B-309-1U, This application did not use the spacers and mounted OVER the existing clamp. On some applications, you will need the spacers, the clamp should not touch the original clamp except on the flats. Do not attempt to use the base without the original clamp in place, it is not that strong.
Picture 1 and Picture 2 are a Magellan 330, Magellan mount, Steel plate adapter (mount is vertical pipe type clamp, I used a diamond of license plate material to make an adapter.), Ram-B-174U.
Picture 3 and Picture 4 are a Lowrance I-Go, Ram-HOL-L05U, and RAM-B-174U.
These are both very stable and vibration free.
