WORKS GREAT
Pros: very solid, works as designed Cons: screw lengths not ideal
I was a little apprehensive about ordering this as I'd seen 3 entirely different pictures of the mounting base for the same part number. A square one, a rectangular one, and a trapezoid. Thankfully, the package I received held the trapezoid which provided the most flexibility in screw alignment - and it worked perfectly in the center row holes on my Buell XB12. Although the package contained 3 different lengths of screws, I found that none of them were quite right. Too short, too long, and the middle was still slightly too short -- it only went about 2 full turns into my reservoir and I wasn't comfortable with that. So I doubled the spacers, one on each side of the plate, and used the long screws (see pics here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bruce-lisa/sets/72157627197086718). That turned out to be the best solution and I've now had it installed for over 2,000 miles without any problems -- including riding twisties, 80+ mph on the slab, gravel roads and dirt roads. I am a little concerned about the possibility of snapping it off and leaving my reservoir leaking or completely open, but that's due to the chosen mounting location and not the product itself. Finally, to respond to some comments about screw torque, that's a matter of the reservoir design and not the RAM mount itself -- you simply need to know the specs of your own bike. The product works exactly as designed and advertised.

PUTS THE GPS IN A NICE LOCATION.
Pros: solid build quality. Cons: screw head broke off from over-tightening.
As with a previous post, I too broke the screw-head off. Thank goodness there was enough screw left to remove it easily. I initally had some drops of fluid leakage from the reservoir but after evenly tightening the screws (make sure not to over tighten!) the leak stopped completely. Now it works great, it puts the GPS in a safe location at the same sightline as the stock mirrors on my BMW r1150r.

SCREW SNAPPED.
Pros: convenient location Cons: screws subject to critical failure.
The reservoir mount is an OK idea, however it is difficult to gauge how tight to torque the mounting screws. On the one hand, it's critical to keep the brake fluid from dripping onto the tank, so snug is good. On the other, too much torque will pop the head off the screw. (Ask me how I know this) I ended up leaving 2 original screws in place while using two to hold the plate in place. So far, so good, but I admit some trepidation should any undue force be applied. Requiring anti-seize is a good idea. It is UNFORGIVABLE not to include same in package, given the mount is not a cheap item and the additional cost would be dirt cheap charge an extra $0.50 to cover it if necessary and save me an unneeded trip to the auto parts store. In retrospect, I would have chosen one of the bar-mount options. Less elegant solution, but the downside is about nil.

SO FAR SO GOOD
Pros: easy on and off and functions well once installed Cons: installation a bit tricky
Once installed it works as advertised. The unit is very easy to put on and take off, and it hold very still without any trouble. I would definitely recommend it. My only knock would be that the installation is a bit tricky - needing anti seize which I wasn't aware of, and the screws that came with it were not the ideal length for my bike. They included 3 sets of screws but 1 was way to short, and the other 2 were practically identical in length, and I almost needed to cut one of them to fit. Lastly, the ball mount functions great, but has limits to the positions it can hold the Garmin. Not a deal breaker but definitely not as flexible as I thought it would be given the ball design.

GPS RESERVOIR MOUNT
There are very few mounts specific to a BMW K1200LT motorcycle as there is a very limited attachment base on this motorcycle. This Ram mount works just fine mounted on the clutch reservoir cover plate.
