CRADLE PLATE MOUNT FOR BICYCLES
The only complaint I have with the product is that directions/diagrams are next to nil. A package insert with detailed installation instructions is needed. It's not terribly complicated, but knowing the possible orientations and placements before installing would have been useful. As it was I had to install it twice, buying my own tiebacks for the second install. Extra tiebacks and mounting pads would also be useful

THEY CAN BREAK
Pros: easy to use, easy to take on and off, looks great Cons: can transfer vibrations to phone on a bike
I have used the RAM mount for my different iPhones pretty much every day for three years. I never had any trouble until on a 3,300 km trip across China, I was hit by a car. Two of the prongs that hook the two sections together broke off, and resulted in the phone bouncing back and forth quite a bit. It still stayed on the mount with no real problems. The phone was not damaged at all. P.S. On my first iPhone 4 the ringing speaker failed. I think that was due to the daily vibrations from it being on the mount. I wouldn't recommend going off road too much, as that much vibration can't be good for any electrical device.

EXCELLENT GPS MOUNT
I ride both a single speed bike and a road bike, in the past I've used cycle computers, Now I'm able to use my GPS on both bikes, no extra hardware to add. So far my new Ram mount is working out great. Highly recommend using this mount.

MIGHT BE OK FOR SMALL GPS'S
Pros: light weight Cons: plastic, has a cheap feel
This is a plasitc lightweight bicycle mount held on by zip ties that I just didn't feel comfortable mounting my Montana 650 to. After installing the GPS felt big and un- steady.

Pros: easy to attach and remove cradle Cons: too fragile
I only used this for a couple of weeks before one of the plastic tabs that hold the cradle onto the mount broke off. Unless you ride on smooth roads all the time, this mount will not last.

GREAT MOUNT ONLY IF YOU MAKE THE MODIFICATION!
Pros: easy to install Cons: will rattle and break without the mod
I geocache almost exclusively by bicycle, so I have logged hundreds of miles with a GPS unit in this mount, on and off the pavement. Not to mention dragging the bike with me through the woods, bushes, and vines. However, when I first attached the mount, the little plastic tabs started to break off and the mount began to rattle. After I made the modification by filling it with epoxy, problem solved and the mount has performed flawlessly since. It helps if you wrap a section of rubberized handlebar tape where you are going to zip tie the mount. It prevents slippage. Of course, if you want to move the mount to another bike, you have to either take the whole thing off and move it. You no longer have the option of just having multiple cradle plates and using the quick release on the GPS holder. Or do like I did and just buy two complete units. The stability gained by making the epoxy mod more than made up for the added expense.

Pros: veryy usefull and small. Cons: bad desing.
I bought three time this product cause something go wrong whit the desing. When you push a little bit to hard to remove the device, you will broke ears holding it, due of tie wrap holding the device to the handlebar. Now i don't intend to remove it.

USED TO ATTACH GPS TO TANDEM BIKE
Pros: easy to attach, stable
I installed the handlebar bike mount (RAP-274-1U) to attach a Garmin eTrex Vista HCx GPS to our tandem bike. Fits the handlebar perfectly, and the base has a low profile which is great since the bike travels on a roof rack. The GPS unit fits securely on the cradle, which then locks in place on the handlebar mount.

GREAT CONCEPT, POOR DESIGN
Pros: great concept. works well when not broken. Cons: needs to be re-engineered for greater strength.
I've now gone through two mounting plates that have both broken. These were not abused in any way. I used it exclusively on my road bike. The amount of shock transferred through my forks up to the stem is simply too much for this mount to absorb. There are 4 small tabs that lock the mount to the cradle which are woefully under-engineered. I'll reconsider the product when it's been beefed up.
I can't risk my iPhone 4 falling off my bike, so I'm abandoning the product.
GPS City's customer support is first rate. They addressed my 1st mount promptly.

RAM BIKE HANDLEBAR MOUNT
Cons: not secure when riding over rough pavement
I use it on my bike with flat handlebars. It works fine when the pavement is smooth. If the pavement isn't smooth, it doesn't keep the GPS receiver very stable. It vibrates pretty bad.
It's plastic and doesn't seem like it is going to last. I wonder if my GPS will hit the ground at some point. I'm going to the mount that I use on my motorcycle.

THE RAM MOUNT CRADLE PLATE
Pros: once in place it holds the unit well Cons: it's hard to make a really solid connection
This was the only mount I could find that was able to fit a 1-1/2" bicycle handlebar. Connected easily to my GPS cradle. It's sometimes difficult to get the unit out because the tin plastic straps do not make a really solid connection.

TAB QUALITY IS VERY POOR
Pros: compact Cons: tabs break easily
If mounted as instructed, at least one of the little tabs that fits in the holes under spring pressure will break while on a ride.
I bought several of these for different bikes (all road bikes) and the all broke in the same manner. RAM does have a warranty policy that will replace the part that is broken, but that will only break again.
The basic construction of this mount is flawed. I doubt that RAM has ever tried actually vibration testing this mount.
But there is a fix. Once you have established the location of the device on the bike, fill the entire cavity with plastic epoxy compound. Leave openings for the zip ties. Let it cure for 24 hours. In addition I glued the connecting triangle piece to the mount as well.
While this prevents quick mounting and dismounting, the will provide the safest and most secure way to ride with your device.
After 600 miles, this modification has worked perfectly.
For those that do not want to modify this mount, do not buy it. You will be very disappointed and may end up losing your device. Instead, I would suggest the motorcycle mounts for your bicycle - if you don't mind the bulkiness of the mounts.

GPS CRADLE MOUNT
Pros: really easy to remove and remount. Cons: not very sturdy
Got this mount for my Delorme PN40 and my husband's Colorado. Ordered his for our TC08 in San Angelo. Had to take mine off my bike because we didn't think his would make it to us in time but it did. I had a ball mount but it broke and shook alot. I'm thinking any good geocacher has plenty of zip ties to reattach if needed and it's very universal as I also can use it for my Garmin 60CS.

WIMPY, WIMPY, WIMPY
Pros: removability Cons: perceived (not proven) wimpiness
I'm using this for my DeLorme PN-20 GPS mount but I'm still not sure about the wimpy ty-rap method of attachment. I sheared off my original "RAM Mount Diamond Plate with Rail Mount" and can only imagine how much easier this one will be to rip off the bike.
I like the removability of the mount, but wish it had a more substantial attachment to the rail.

PERFECT FOR STEM MOUNTING GARMIN ETREX!!
Pros: stem mount, very secure Cons: somewhat high profile
This is the only way to stem mount a Garmin GPS on a bicycle that I know of. It isn't advertised as such, but the way the diamond plate fits into the socket (see video) the GPS can be rotated, one setting of which puts it perfectly straight ahead when stem mounting.
Without the neoprene adhesive strip, it would not be very secure, so that may account for some reviews. But as it comes now, it's very secure. One downside is that it has a pretty high profile, raising the bottom of the device almost 2 inches above the bar.

COMPACT BASE
Pros: compact, secure Cons: base slides on bars without neoprene strip
I love this base because it is compact and easy to use. I have two of these bases, one on my bicycle and one on my Segway. I can transfer the cradle I use for my iPhone to each without much effort. The spring loaded mechanism is VERY secure, I never worry about the cradle coming away from the base. All in all, a great product.
My only gripe is that I have a problem with the base sliding back and forth on my bars. I noticed today that they are selling a neoprene adhesive strip with the base, probably to help prevent the sliding I am encountering. I sure wish this was sold with the two units I bought.

WORKS GREAT
I've ridden dozens of rides over a thousand miles with this on my road bike with no issues. I'm not sure how some are breaking the tabs after "3 rides", but mine has held up great. I went through a couple Garmin bike mounts before this one.
Only issue is slight twisting on of the zip ties, but it's easily corrected by reaching down occasionally and straightening it out.
I have a Garmin 60CSx

WAAAAY TOO LOOSE
Cons: bad clamping design, quick release fit
This attachment suffers from a couple of problems. The first is the cable ties used to clamp it to handle bars. It allows for rotation around the bars, causing your PDA/whatever to slowly rotate and you have to keep correcting it. Second, the quick attachment mechanism is novel and simple, but has way too much play for use on a bike, where road vibrations and bumps cause it to bounce around a lot. I do not favor this design.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY
This mount is not sturdy and lacks traditional RAM Mount quality. The tabs that lock on the base are not strong and break off. I've gone through two mounts already. Each mount only lasted a few rides. I used this mount on a road bike and travel smooth roads. I also removed the GPS from the cradle and did not remove the cradle hoping that would put less stress on the tabs.

HANDLEBAR RAIL MOUNT
Pros: otherwise view secure. Cons: i've heard the plasitc tabs break easily.
Why zip ties? the mount withe wieght of the GPS, twists around the handlebar, thus causing me to twist it back. Many bike manufacturers have a plastic screw mechanisium I believe you can all learn from for this type of mount. Check out the computer mounts or kyponite lock mounting brackets.

RAM MOINT USED FOR MOUNTAIN BIKING.
Pros: see text above.
Very good. At first, was worried that I could not get the tie strips tight enough over the stem. In the end, it has a little movement if you twist it, but it really will not move on its own so much. In some ways, it offers a little bit of give that may keep it from outright breaking if it is hit. Here is the best part: there are 2 different sets of adapters that fit over the stem or handle bars that give nice alternatives for fit. Excellent thinking. Also, the mount for the phone has a bayonet that is easy on / off.

PLEASED WITH PURCHASE
Pros: compact, ez on/off, can rotate cradle any way Cons: zip ties not the most secure
I had the U-BOLT mount for my bicycle handlebars, but it was quite bulky. It also did not fit my handlebars where I wanted to mount it since the handlebars get thicker toward the middle. Hence, the reason I bought this mount. It is much more compact than the previous mount I had and it fits any size bar. I've had it now for about 3 weeks and it is beginning to slip when I ride, even with the rubber base attached firmly to my bars. It's annoying, but not a show stopper.

SIMPLE - EASY - INEXPENSIVE - WORKS!
Pros: ease of installation, quick mount/dismount coupler
I used this mount, along with a RAM cradle, to put my nuvi 500 on my road bike. It was a snap to put on, and it allowed several install options. I really like the quarter-turn rapid mount/dismount feature. The mount provided enough spring tension flexibility to absorb a lot of shock from rough roads. I used it in the Solvang Half-Century bike ride in March. It worked very well. My only minor problem was the off-center mount (on the nuvi cradle) which caused the base to turn slightly on the bar on rough roads. I'm sure I can fix that with a small rubber pad or tape under the zip tie mounts.
Shipping was unbelievable. Ordered it one evening, it was at my door a day and a half later - on standard ground shipping. Thanks GPS City!

GREAT IDEA, SHORT ON FUNCTION
I was elated when I saw this product. I can now change my GPS from bike to bike while using the same mount.
