The RAM High Strength Plastic Mount with Aluminum Zinc Coated U-Bolt Rail Base consists of the 1'' dia. ball and socket system with RAM Plastic Universal 1/4''-20 thread centered on a 2.5'' diameter Plate. This mount is designed to be a universal mounting solution for both still and moving cameras.
BASE DESIGN:
 The RAM-B-231Z RAM Mount Powder Coated Marine Grade Aluminum Rail Base has a 1.0 inch diameter Rubber Ball designed to sit at right angles to the mounting rail. The Zinc Coated metal U-Bolt and nuts included are designed it fit on most motorcycle round handlebars, or any circular rail or pipe with diameter from 3/4 to 1.0 inch.
To mount the rail base, place the top of the base on the rail and then slide the u-bolt around the rail, into the holes in the base top. Now tighten the screws onto the u-bolt until the base is clamped firmly. If you desire, you can now slot the black rubber covers over the exposed ends of the u-bolt.
Note: If you are looking to use this mount in the elements, we suggest the RAM-B-231 Stainless Steel U-Bolt Mount.
ARM DESIGN:
The High Strength Plastic double socket arm is approximately 15'' long when measured between socket centers. The two 1'' ball sockets are connected to a 12'' long PVC black pipe.
CRADLE DESIGN:
 The High Strength Plastic Universal Camera Plate has a 1.0'' diameter Rubber Ball connected at right angles to a 2.5'' diameter Plate with a centered 1/4''-20 thread. The plate adds support to the thread, by allowing the camera to rest on the plate, creating a stable connection with the camera.
Note: The male 1/4'' long, 1/4''-20 thread in the middle of the 2.5'' diameter plate will connect to the standard female thread found at the bottom of most still and video cameras. An alternative to this camera mounting system is the Aluminum 2.5'' Plate with 1/4''-20 Thread (RAM-B-202A) or the Male 1/4''-20 Threaded Ball (RAM-B-237). |
