STABILITY AN ISSUE
Pros: neutral Cons: neutral
I tried to use this product on the handle bar of a R12RT (very stable). There was a significant amount of vibration. I think this will work much better in a car.

I LIKE IT.
Definitely makes the Garmin 60CSX screen information easier to read with or without glasses when not moving. Jiggles a little bit when snowmobiling or ATVing so I use it mostly when stopped at side of trail...I like it.

THE RAM MOUNT BIG SCREEN MAGNIFIER RAM-MAG-1U
Pros: well made: it does, in fact, magnify! Cons: can be prone to vibration on a motorcycle.
The Magnifier magnifies the screen of my Garmin 76csx about 1.5 times, and its shape matches that of the GPS. I don't know if would be the best fit for other GPS's, however, as they have different sizes and shapes. The magnification would probably be 2 x if I had the magnifier situated at its fullest possible distance from the GPS screen, but I don't.
Note: because it's a low level of magnification, I don't think this magnifier would be a substitute for wearing reading glasses or bi-focals, if you are one of those that wears glasses. Nevertheless, It definitely does make it a whole lot easier to see the little stuff on the GPS's small display.
The Magnifier is attached to the RAM mount via a bendable, adjustable aluminum stem. In order to get proper magnification, it must stick out 3 to 5 inches from the GPS screen. There is space for this when using the GPS in my car. However, when mounted on the handlebars of my KLR "thumper" motorcycle, it makes the GPS cumbersome, and the Magnifier vibrates, like it's on the end of a tuning fork. This reduces its usefulness, and, in my opinion, can be dangerous, as it sticks out towards my face. These issues, of course, may not be a problem depending on your motorcycle and the mounting location of location of your GPS.
Depending on how you have the Magnifier attached, and upon the GPS unit, it may be awkward to reach under the magnifier in order to push the GPS's buttons. I mounted the Magnifier from the top of the GPS, instead of the bottom, in order to resolve the problem of the Magnifier stem hitting my motorcycle's tank bag.

REVIEW THE RAM MOUNT BIG SCREEN MAGNIFIER
Even when installed in a rather stiff suspension 4WD, the magnifier made my gps60 very readable with just a minor amount of distortion around the edges.

it works as you claim, is relatively easy to install but in that I'm using it with a Garmin 550 Unit, wish the glass could be larger.

A MUST HAVE FOR ANY HAND HELD GPS!
A MUST HAVE FOR ANY HAND HELD GPS!
I fly Powered Parachutes and use various (GARMAN Map60CSX)(EIS)(ASI)(OAT)instruments for navigation & ground speed etc. this device enables us to place the GPS away from our rudder bars and easier access to the pilots seat and still view what information that is on the GPS from farther away.

RAM MOUNT BIG SCREEN MAGNIFIER
This 2X magnifier helps view the Garmin 60 series and other model GPS screens. Some modification is needed as the mounting stem for the lens is too long for most applications. Using a soft pouch can protect the lens en not using a GPS unit or removing the RAM mount. Some bottom clearance is needed for tank bags if used depending on the handlebar height. My use will be on a 2007 KLR650 and 2004 Yamaha FZ1 and 2004 Honda XR400R. My Suzuki Hayabusa says I should not look at my GPS considering that bike's 273 ft/sec top speed velocity..... 186 mph, 300 kph!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a good GPS accessory.

QUERY ?
Has anyone tried this on a GArmin GPSmap 60Cx? And do you need the RAM mounting setup for it, or can it just hook it up to the unit? I want to use it on my motorbike, where I have a simple little GPS holder, not the complicated RAM setup. thanks

MAGNIFIER FOR LOWRANCE H2O
Just a quick question. Can you install this Mag1 on a Lowrance H2O? The reason I'm asking, the magnifier will have to be installed from the top of the ram mount (all pics I've seen is shown it installed from the bottom) since the keypad is at the bottom. Comments?

Guys, There must be a few really challenged people here as I purchased this Magnifier and had it installed in less than 2 minutes. It works great on the sled and really gives excellent clarity at night with a color Map76csx. Do people need directions to change their spark plugs. Great Job RAM.

Using the instructions (that Brad nicely provided the link to) I had this installed in about 5 minutes. From there, I was on my way. I have it on my motorcycle, and use it with my Garmin Nuvi 360. Works well, but it took me a few rides with stops and starts to get it set just right to see what I needed to see. My only issue is that the lens needs to be as wide as it is long to work with other GPS systems. I had to adjust to see the top of my Nuvi screen but not the bottom, in order to see the next road upcoming. Other than that, nice product.

I just received my magnifier for my Garmin Quest II and was disappointed in the lack of A: Any directions for different mounting scenarios, and B: Missing longer screw possibilities. I use it on motorcycles with a powered Quest RAM mount with ball mounts on dock. If you have a powered Quest mount, the supplied screws are way to short. You need to go buy two 2" long stainless steel screws of the same diameter and thread. Then everything fits together nice

Nicely made product, no instructions, which seems to be the norm for RAM. Rude person on the phone at RAM when I expressed my frustration with the lack of instructions and inability to speak to a technician by phone. You have to e-mail them with your question. Once installed, which for me took some shortening of the aluminum rod, the product appeared to work as advertised. The person at RAM said I should not need to shorten the mounting rod, but I had to. Also, you have to make a sharp bend just to mount it in the diamond mounting plate. I had to do it three times as I had to shorten the rod twice and it comes straight. A bit tedious to say the least. Overall, if you want to play with it awhile to get it right, it should work. Don't forget to leave room to remove the GPS from the mount and leave yourself the ability to press the buttons on the GPS. I utilized a Lowrance 500 for this particular installation.

I bought the magnifier to use with my Quest that is mounted on my motorcycle. The magnifier works great, it brought the screen up big enough that I moved the GPS 2.5” farther away from my face and still get a much bigger view of the screen. Getting it lined up correctly and installed in its mounting piece did take awhile. The previous review is correct there is no instructions. I needed 2 pair of pliers to get it to conform in shape. There was vibration problems with the magnifier when the bike was running, so I took the opportunity to add a rain/sun shield that connects to the magnifier and the GPS mount along the top. The additional support stopped the jumping magnifier lens problem I saw. I am happier with the MAG1 then I was without it.

I use a Garmin III Plus and a Garmin V on my motorcycle. While they are old technology compared to the newest stuff today, I like them. I like the ability of the III Plus to substantially increase the size of a numbered display, and wish the Garmin V had the identical ability. I read the reviews here and absolutely agree with them. The kit still lacks printed directions, and yes, I did spend a few minutes achieving that "special bend" required for the adaptor plate, all done by hand. As others have found already, a short piece of the aluminum rod can be cut off. In my case, about one inch was cut off by hacksaw. The whole job from opening the box, to admiring the finished installation took about 30 minutes. I like the magnifier, it works, and I am going to buy another. My magnifier is about 2.75 to 3.0 inches from the GPS screen. I may be wrong, but the screen appears to be 30-40% larger with this handy accessory.
