Can the FMI 45 cable be used to mount a Nuvi 3490LMT on a motorcycle?

I purchased this to hard wire my Garmin 3490LMT on my motorcycle. Not sure what I have ordered. The first hard wire unit I ordered didn't have the Traffic receiver, so I ordered this one. How/can I use this on my motorcycle???

This cable will work to power the Nuvi and provide lifetime traffic (according to Garmin Tech Support). The red lead is wired to +12 volt and the black lead to ground. The other 3 leads are for serial port connection which is not used on a motorcycle.

Thanks Tom,
I have the red and black wired. When I use the traffic icon on the GPS, I get an error message that the power to the Traffic receiver isn't connected. I am wired to a FZ-1 fuse block and have checked all fuses.

I purchased the exact same cable and there is only 1 black and 1 red. Any advise?

I checked the cables and you are correct. I was given inaccurate info and passed it along. The Cable that has the two power cables is the FMI-15. The FMI-45 only has the one set.

thanks for your quick response. Do you know if this has to plug in to a switched power source or straight to the motorcycle battery?

There is a DC to DC converter built in to change the 12V down to 5V.

how about the trafic receiver constantly drawing power even when the bike is off?

Yes the cable will draw power from the battery when the bike is off. You can put a power switch inline with it if power draw is a problem on your bike
