The Forerunner 101 offers athletes and recreational walkers and runners an entry-level personal training device with GPS. It has the same features as the Forerunner 201, but operates on two AAA batteries. The Forerunner 101 stores lap histories for up to two years to provide an archive of workout performance over time. Users can retrieve lap data for previous workouts by date, week, month, or over a specific time interval. For business travelers who want to train on the road, the Forerunner 101 also doubles as a navigator. Users can mark their hotel as a specific location, see their current position on the plotter display, and follow an electronic breadcrumb trail back to their starting point. Working out with the Forerunner 101 means you're never alone in your personal training, because the unit provides a ''Virtual Partner''. This unique feature allows you to set your training goal by configuring your Virtual Partner's pace and workout distance. You'll get a graphic perspective of your performance by viewing your pace in relation to your Virtual Partner's pace, so you can always see at a glance if you're keeping up or falling behind. Note: The difference between the Forerunner 201 and the Forerunner 101 is the Forerunner 101 does not have PC interface capabilities, runs on 2 AAA batteries, and has larger unit dimensions.

DanBo Northern NJ November 30, 2009	BEST LITTLE RADIO CONTROL MODEL SPEEDOMETER Pros: a great little gps with a lot of functionality Cons: none for me GPS City had the best price on this unit. I use this small GPS for it's MPH function, maximum and average speed are displayed once you setup a custom page in the screen. The 101 is accurate, light weight and small so I can mount it on any of my radio control models. This makes my R/C more enjoyable to actually see how fast the model is going and helps in tuning and such. Gary Niagara Region Ontario January 18, 2009	I LIKE THE BATTERY-OPERATED GARMIN 101 Pros: no contacts to get ruined by sweat Cons: aaa battery life is not great I'm a runner, and a few years ago, I owned a Garmin Forerunner 201. I sweat a lot, and the contacts for battery re-charging got ruined on the 201. After about 3 months, it would not work at all. The first Forerunner was replaced under warranty, but the replacement got ruined as well. I decided to try the Forerunner 101 with batteries. Benoit Montreuil QC December 31, 1969	I have been using the 101 for two weeks. the battery life on rechargeables is about 8 hours, the reception is very good. The only negative point I have is the bike mount. It's a joke, you need jewler equipment and skill to remove the bracelet so you can clip it on.
