Have you lost the original lanyard that shipped with your unit, or is it just time for a new one? As listed above, there are three different lengths to choose from. You can purchase the one you originally had or change the length to one more practical to your use. The lanyard circled on the left is 17.5'' long. It can be worn as a neck strap or a long wrist strap.

Da Frenchie Winnipeg, MB, Canada January 12, 2010	SUITS THE PURPOSE UNITL YOU FIND BETTER Pros: suits the purpose Cons: not reflective, has no clip, no swivel, Bought this lanyard to keep my GPS around my neck and inside my jacket while I'm out bush wacking and/ or winter camping. After browsing and shopping some more, I've decided to get a 5/8" to 3/4" wide lanyard bright orange or yellow which will also be reflective and with a clip allowing you to take the unit of the lanyard without having to take the lanyard from around your neck all the time. As I mentioned, this one suits the purpose until you find better (such as a reflective one). LoneCoyote Guysborough, NS December 17, 2009	LONG LANYARD Pros: long enough to view gps carried around neck. Cons: none I also had a long lanyard on my GPSMAP76, but lost signal as the connecting point was on bottom of unit. My GpsMap60Cx hangs properly when I tuck unit inside my coat to protect it from the elements and heavy brush. This length allows me to quickly pull out the unit to check my position when traversing new territory, rather than pulling up my coat tail and unzipping the case to pull out the unit. 6 out of 14 viewers found this review helpful. If you have a larger unit like the StreetPilot or 176 series, the lanyard can be used as a safe guard for the unit when mounted on a bike handlebar, or with a suction cup mount. Simply attach the lanyard to your unit and then loop the lanyard onto a secure point on you bike or vehicle. Now if your unit comes loose from the mount, I won't fall far.
