Outdoor enthusiasts: we've mapped every hill and valley for your next great adventure. Now with more detail than ever, TOPO U.S. covers the finer points of the outdoors, with topographic maps comparable to 1:100,000 scale USGS maps. TOPO U.S. includes terrain contours, topo elevations, summits, parks, coastlines, rivers, lakes and geographical points. TOPO maps are ideal for hiking, hunting, camping, cycling and communing with nature. Coverage includes topographic detail of the entire United States, including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico.
BaseCamp, included on the DVD, allows you to view and manage waypoints, routes and tracks on your computer and GPS. This new application includes 2-D and 3-D map views, rotated map orientation, elevation profiles and animated playback of routes and tracks. It allows you to organize trip data into folders and transfer trip data to and from compatible devices. The software also supports geotagging photos, enhanced printing, higher resolution images and more.
Map Transfer from Mac to Garmin GPS
Garmin MapSource Topographic 100k USA DVD for the Mac allows you to transfer mapping data to your compatible Garmin GPS unit. Download the map detail from the DVD to your Mac, then transfer mapping data to your connected Garmin GPS. It's important to note the following:
- You will require the MapInstall program for the Mac to transfer the mapping data to your GPS,
- You can create waypoints, routes and tracks on the Mac with the Garmin City Navigator but you will require the Garmin Bobcat program to transfer them to or from your Garmin GPS.
Garmin and Mac Programs
Garmin is actively working on creating software for the Mac that allows a seamless integration with Garmin GPS units. Currently, there are a few different programs available (some in beta) that will enable routes, tracks, waypoints and POI transfer and mapping with the Garmin Topographic 2008 100k USA DVD for the Mac.
