24 K COLORADO UTAH MICROCARD.

Pros: easy to read, useful for hiking
Cons: trails should be updated

I bought the microCard for my vacation in the Rocky Montain National Park. I use a Garmin GPSmap 60CSx. The natural features are mapped exactly - when crossing a creek or reaching a lake shoreline, the GPS cursor is also crossing the creek or is following the shoreline. The accuracy of the trails is however very variable. In the Indian's Peak Wilderness, the cursor is 40m off the Lake Isabelle/Pawney pass trail but is on the the plotted trail fron the Blue Lake trail. In the Rocky Mountain Park, the GPS cursor is exactly on the trail for the Chasm Lake - Longs Peak trail but on and off the trail by 30 m for the Fern Lake to Bear lake trail. The worst was the Colorado - Lulu City trail where the cursor was at some places more than 400 m off. Garmin should verify what type of datum in use for the trail and also update theirs maps (trails do change!).

GARMIN TOPO US 24K MICROSD CARD.

Pros: neutral
Cons: neutral

I was disappointed because I though (from reading the description of the product) that trails would be a major part of the display. Not so. It may have them, but they are hard to find and use.

WONDERFUL PRODUCT !

Pros: detailed, convenient, reasonable price
Cons: none

For the first time Garmin is beginning to roll out 24K Topo maps on very convenient microSD cards. ( includes SD card adapter ) No computer needed, just put it in your unit and go. No fuss, no muss !

All I can say is it is about time !

They are starting with the western states and going east. If your state is not covered yet, please be patient. They are all coming.

This is the highest level of mapping detail available for your Garmin unit. They work best on the new Colorado and Oregon series units as you will see see 3-D views and color terrain shading on these units only. Very Nice !!

These are a must have for hikers, geocachers and any outdoor enthusiasts.

Highly recommended !!
