GARMIN MC MOUNT

Pros: design and funtion.
Cons: 2 of the locking nuts seized on the mount screws.

I purchased the Garmin mount for use on my Honda ST1300. It works great! Sleek design and perfect height when used with the 6" Ram connection arm. I purchased a machined mount from Motorcycle Larry.com which replaces the factory steering stem cover. I added the optional Powerlet power outlet in the same mount so I have easy access to power.

BETTER THAN EXPECTED

Pros: super fast shipping, garmin oem part

This cradle should be on the front page of this website! The cradle is a Garmin OEM unit which will fit any StreetPilot 2XXX GPS. The included power cable worked perfectly for my BMW R1100RT. The connector is a nice tight fit, and the cavity for the connector on the unit holds it in place nicely. There is a slot which holds the loose connector when you have the unit out of the cradle. You'll probably want to get shorter mounting screws (I used 1" screws instead of the supplied 1-1/2).

I have a gadget shelf mounted above the dash and below the windscreen. I opted to make my own mount out of ABS plastic which fit the existing mount holes on my shelf. After a little fiddling with the positioning, I have it set up perfectly. It's mounted high enough that I can see the GPS without taking my eyes off the road in front of me.

GARMIN CRADLE BETTER THAN RAM CRADLE

Pros: secure, won't mar finish, looks better
Cons: must use special tool to remove security screw

I accidently got both this mount and the RAM mount made for the Garmin 2720, not realizing that they both have a cradle. This gave me an opportunity to try both cradles on my BMW motorcycle. I like the Garmin cradle a lot better for four reasons: (1) Thanks to the security screw, the GPS cannot be removed by the casual walk-by thief (2) The RAM cradle is quite noticeable, but the Garmin cradle is out of the way (3) The RAM mount clips around the GPS and will mar the finish over time, but the Garmin cradle attaches to the back to the manufacturer’s mounting points and (4) the Garmin dust cover fits on the GPS while mounted on the Garmin cradle, but the RAM cradle prevents it. To mount the Garmin cradle on a motorcycle handlebar, I recommend the RAM mount that attaches to the Garmin cradle (GPS City SKU RAMB149-347).

BEST MOUNT FOR MOTORCYCLE

Pros: very well thought out
Cons: screws in kit cross thread easily

This is the only mount I would consider for your GPS. I will start with the cradle feature. The GPS sits onto two small tabs and then snaps back into two more dowels and then a metal latch snaps down and grabs a notch in the back of the unit with a metal tab. The latch also has red tape across the front edge to alert you when it is not locked down(RED=not locked, NO RED=locked). Then the latch has a small torx screw that can be screwed down so the latch can not be opened. The kit includes a small Torx screwdriver keychain to complete the locking process. This cradle has a molded in notch that covers the power cord so that it will never come off while the unit is in the cradle. Then when you remove the unit from the cradle there is another molded in holding slot on the back side to slide the power cord onto so it will not accidentally touch something and ground out .

NICE FIT

Pros: excellent fitment, worked great with my ram mount
Cons: hardware could have been higher quality but worked

Used this cradle and cable on my snowmobile with my 2610 this past season and I have had no issues with it. The wire slips into a groove molded into the cradle when not in use. I didn't use the earpiece plug while on the sled so I can't comment on that. Hardly ever used the security screw while on the sled, just added a lanyard to the 2610 so it wouldn't disappear completely while going down the trail. It would have received a 5 had it not been for the so-so quality bolts and lock nuts.

FITS PERFECT ON MY 2730

Works excellent.....just watch the ny-lock nuts and bolts that come with the kit....they ended up binding on me as I tried to mount it to the diamond plate mount....not a big deal in the big scheme of things though...

Finely made unit, but ... fiddely to attatch and remove the 2610 and a Royal Pain to have to use the "security" screwdriver ... Super easy to lose! But my biggest complaint is the micro plug earplug jack. Which marketing wiz decided to use the micro plug size instead of the mini jack that almost all earpieces use? Also, the power plug will not stay put in the cut-out in the mount unless the GPS unit is in place ... so it just hangs there ... Get it together guys !!

I have found this kit extremely useful and secure on my Harley-Davidson Ultra. I really like the factory designed GPS lock and the quality cable provided. This unit has provided over 26000 miles of trouble free service. As for the cable connector mentioned by Gary, you will find a very convenient mount for the unused cable next to the depression used when the GPS is mounted. All you do is turn the connector so the contact points are facing the mount and slide the connector on. No worry about a short circuit to ground, Slick! I highly recommend this mount for anyone using the 26xx series on a motorcycle or ATV.
