I walk our dog every day and our favourite area in the winter is a bluff of trees just South of The Harte Trail (TransCanada Trail extension). Toby, a Wheaten Terrier, is 9+ and has logged over 5000 miles.
In January I purchased an Oregon 550 from GPSCity (Calgary) to keep track of our walking as my older Legend screen failed. Out walking just before Sunset on a day in February I heard a droning sound. As there are often snowmobiles in the the area I didn't pay much heed but the sound continued and then right over our heads flew a powered wing - and me without my camera.
A couple of minutes later I realized that my new Oregon had a camera so a quick sprint to the open field - just in time to capture one shot.
In late March we were walking on the trail and what should appear again but the flying wing. This time we watched until it landed right in front of us. Had a conversation with the pilot and found out he and my younger son are canoeing friends.
Now I regularly take photos using the Oregon 550, especially for posting geocache photos.

| GARMIN MONTANA 650 IS A WINNER! |

I've had many Garmin gps units over the years, but none has been as exciting as my new Montana 650! What an awesome piece of equipment. For the last two years I've had an Oregon 550 and a 62S, and this Montana has made me forget those others very quickly.
I've used it on my motorcycle on the Rugged Garmin mount and it's been very easy to see, and it's very configurable, so only what I need to see is on the screen at any time.
The 650 has an onboard camera, so I've included a couple of photos I took with it. I'm impressed with the quality of the photos!
Anyway, if all you can afford is one gps, get this one! It does everything you need. |
