GOOD AUTO GPS
Pros: good unit simple to use Cons: forget about the suction cup
Previously used the Garmin 760(which gave up the ghost recently) Found the 2595 easier to use with much better coverage. Like the 4 sets of info provided at bottom of screen. Pleased that I bought the dash mount as I've had the 760 fall on the floor when the suction cup lets go!

POSITIVE INVESTMENT
Pros: lifet time maps and trafic. Cons: have to purchase case seperately.
Easy to use and a great on the road tool. Was able to teach my wife to use it quickly. Just a side note, I saw no reason to purchase the city maps seperately. Tha main maps the come with the kit did great...

FIRST AUTOMOTIVE GPS
Pros: clear voice (even for hard-of-hearing) Cons: doesn't stir my coffee - does everything else !
Have used Garmin handhelds for geocaching and roadwork previously. But, the NUVI 2595 with its voice prompts, proved very useful indeed and with lifetime traffic and maps, it is a very economical investment too. The included windshield mount is sturdy, and legal for Ontario. eliminating the 'hand-held' illegality.

GPS WITH GREAT DISPLAY.
Pros: large display with easy to read configuration. Cons: would like the voice command to be more intuitive.
Opted for the Nuvi for an upcoming motorcycle trip instead of the Zumo. Even with the Ram Mount the cost/benefit is in favor of the Nuvi. I know it isn't waterproof, but with an onboard battery I can always slip it into my tank bag to get to my destination. My previous GPS had voice recognition and I didn't want to give that up. Also, the Garmin line of GPS will allow downloading of club rides from their library. Very pleased with the initial setup and ease of use.

GARMIN 2595 AND SAFETY CAMERA ALERTS
Pros: super fast gps acquisiton!!!!!!! Cons: bluetooth comparability is horrible!
Great unit. Not perfect, but happy. By the way, if you want free safety camera alerts (stop light and speed cameras), go to TRAPSTER.com They work great! Also, some people have commented that bluetooth reception volume from the speaker is low. IT IS ADJUSTABLE (refer to manual). Steve headbeep@msn.com

GARMIN NUVI 2460 - WHERE DID THE PING ALERTS GO?
Pros: 2595lmt- fast business search 2460-ping alerts Cons: 2595lmt-no free safety camera & junction alerts
I recently returned a 2460LMT Garmin nuvi to B***** because the volume continued to decrease. They no longer carried the 2460, so they exchanged it with a 2595LMT. I was told that the 2595 had EVERYTHING the 2460 had plus more. The sales person was not correct. The 2595 is missing the ping alerts which I so much appreciated.
The 2460 came with a ping when the junction screen came up and ALSO a ping when I approached a safety or red light camera. No paid subscriptions were required. However, these alerts are not available on the 2595.
I called Garmin and was told that they are soon going to put out the software to allow the alert sound to become available AND that owners will have to pay a small subscription price to have the safety camera alerts. I was very disappointed.

A FANTASTIC GPS
Pros: free maps and traffic Cons: volume could be louder with blue tooth devices
Ive had the unit for a few weeks now and have been traveling to and from small towns in the USA... has not steered me wrong yet! Even at home testing the unit before my trips...not a glitch. The traffic is very nice to have and the units routing around heavy traffic has been spot on so far. The blue tooth connection was easy and fairly straight forward. The volume could be tweeked to be louder with blue tooth but other than that plenty loud. I have hearing issues, but still need to have the unit at 60 -70% volume. Voice command is very accurate, not 100% of the time but very good and so nice to have while driving! Over all a very nice unit!

YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.
Pros: display, audio, bluetooth & traffic are excellent. Cons: haven't found any
I bought the 5295LMT to replace a venerable TomTom G730. The reason for the switch was that the interface and features aside, TT's performance was bizarre. Years of no online store, expensive updates, and process quirks (re: having all your favorites wiped every time you updated maps).
I'm very happy with the switch. It's a very different paradigm and experience with a TomTom...more tutored I would say. While TomTom's menus are, in a sense, non-linear and all available, TomTom requires from very linear access routes to get to what you want. Getting over this was probably my biggest challenge...but not very big.
The display is a very bright and easy to read, even in daylight. It's quite thin and light, so I understand why they say you can pocket it and navigate while walking.
The sound is clear, crisp, and understandable. My wife is hearing impaired and can hear it as clear as a bell, so that's saying something. My only gripe is that the limited voices packaged with the 2595 sound like the a receptionist from Wisconsin (not that there's anything wrong with that). It's just not a polished voice that I'm used to from TomTom (or selection). Words like "ramp" sound like "ray-amp" to my ears. But this is a MINOR gripe since Garmin has some very good tools available online to create your own voice series.
Online support: I love it. Garmin's updates are easy-peasy. Plug in your 2595LMT and when my system starts up, it checks for updates. Map update alerts are done via the web so there's only a little bit of unobtrusive software to install. Hurrah!
Add-ons: I didn't buy the device so I could have an ice-cream truck or clown car icon on the navigation map. A basic car or blue arrow is fine by me. There's some stuff online, and it's free...so make of that what you will.
Customization: the most obvious customization option on the 2595LMT is the look of the maps. There are different colour sets. It's a nice feature but it's nothing new. The only downside is that the ugly pink route guide is always an ugly pink.
Traffic Updates: this was a surprize since I wasn't really paying attention when I bought the LMT. My focus was a larger screen, and lifetime map updates. What a treat that when I plugged the dual purpose power adapter and traffic data receiver, my route showed up with a traffic alert and an estimate of delays. Since I knew better, I ignored the traffic update. Note to self: the traffic info on the 2595LMT is pretty darn good in my experience. It had info on a new road repair project I didn't know about, and even though it warned me, I ignored the data to my own peril (and minor delay). Now I just follow the info it tells me. I'm seriously thinking of getting the digital data cable since it promises more frequent updates. I'm all for that. The traffic feature, even in its basic form with the included cable, is like an eye in the sky. I don't expect it to know everything ALL the time, but so far my experience has been very good with this feature.
Another surprise is the interchange images and lane guidance: the 2595LMT contains a database of images of traffic signs at major interchanges so you can see what sign you're supposed to follow and how to make the turn. This...is...amazing. Not only do the signs match, but it seems like most of the images are either photorealisitic, or a VERY close approximation of the interchanges. It gives you a lot of confidence to see the sign on the 2595LMT, and then see the EXACT sign ahead of you. The lane guidance is very good too. Instead of a really generic image, you get a fairly good representation of what your interchange/turn off/ramp looks like. Again, a real confidence boost in unfamiliar territory.
Bluetooth: very good. It connects and holds the connection reliably. Where I live we have a new distracted driving law so hands-free phone calls ONLY. The 2595 performs very well as a hands-free device. The first call I made I though "ugh oh, the audio on this for phone calls sucks...the sound is so quiet." Yeah, no. The on-hold music was quiet at the store I called. The actual call quality was fantastic.
Build: It's a good device for the money. The build is reasonably solid, with a nice sleep feature that lets you start up quickly.
Missing features: apart from Garmin security (which lets you lock the device in case its stolen, but can only be unlocked from its home location (so I guess if it's going to be stolen, make sure it's not stolen from home -)) I haven't found anything that I'm missing. There aren't as many featuers as my previous unit, but seeing as I didn't use most of them, I'm not missing them, and paid nearly half as much for the 2595LMT.
The 2595LMT is a lot of GPS for the money. Buy with confidence you won't be disappointed.
