NAVIGATOR NT 2010 NORTH AMERICA UPDATE
Pros: easy to install.
I like the newer mapsouce for my computer. The update to my Computer and my Garmin 2720 street pilot went smooth and fairly fast.I updated from version 2006.

2010 UPDATE
I bought the DVD copy and it was updated in about 15 minutes. I recomend this to other who are having download problems.

2009 MAP UPDATE TITLED AS 2010
Pros: none
Cons: none. except the $60.00 cost
it took 5 hours to update. Even it is sold as 2010 update it is really a 2009 update. Did not notice any difference in new update. I would buy a new GPS in a few years rather spend the money for a new update

UPDATES ARE GREAT BUT TOO SLOW
Pros: great gps overall
Cons: slow download speed on garmin servers
Well I am sitting on a T3 connection which is a business grade/not shared optical 45MB/PS link. The 2Gig upgrade should have taken less than 15 minutes instead it took three hours! People GARMIN NEEDS TO UPGRADE THE BANDWIDTH on their server. I did the upgrade a 6am EST so server traffic should not have been as busy. However, once I got the download (for the latest maps) everything installed as planned. I have an old 2730 I keep this model since I have a serius XM lifetime subscription with this radio and do not want to waste the transfer so I am stuck with Garmin and this unit for life! All in all everything works well but some old roads are still there and 2 year old construction has not been updated but still better than my 2008 version :-)

MAP UPDATE FOR YEAR 2010, RELEASED IN APRIL 2009
Bought update for my Garmin GPS, determined it was out dated! Attempted a download after several hours only about 20 percent had downloaded.. I have Satalite apparently it reset and I lost everything. Called Garmin Support stated server was slow and busy, must have real high speed download. Told me to go to a friends house to download the lastest version of map data???!!! Download should have restart and check pointing or they should provide the latest CD availiable. I can wait to April 2010 and get the 2011 version and pay again. I think GPS city should list that the CD was out dated, and the download requirements should be listed by Garmin...

CAN'T BELIEVE WHAT I'M READING
Pros: good update
Many people are complaining that they had no idea or they were not told that a high speed internet connection was "helpful" in downloading the new maps. One person complained it took 4.5 hours to download. Really? No idea? How long does it take for a page to load using your dial up. Someone had to tell you it might take awhile? I don't get it. Word starts with S and ends with D.

CITY NAVIGATOR NT 2010 NORTH AMERICA MAP UPDATE
Cons: read review.
Even though it shows its an update the update does not show local roads that have been in existence for the past several years...when I drive these roads it would appear that I'm driving on fields of green or my car has turned into a boat as I pass over rivers and streams. Guess it updated somewhere but not here (Apopka, Florida).

MISSING MATERIAL
In spite of update we found some addresses not there in spite of fact they have been around for a decade Still have to override it at times but very useful navigating large cities keeping you in the proper lane, etc.

NEW 2010 MAPS FOR 2720 STREET PILOT
Pros: it gets you where you want to go.
Cons: sometimes takes you in a round about way.
At this time I have not used the new maps for a trip/vacation but tried it on a short 60 mile trip that I knew the road had changed & the changes were on the new maps. Yes it took a long time to load & I needed to call a tech to help. She was very nice & helpful. She recommended that I use my CD to install new maps because the difference between the download & CD was not worth the time to download the maps.

GOOD MAP UPDATE
Pros: would appear to be a good upgrade.

GPSCity Calgary, Alta provides excellent service - I ordered late PM of one day and Update DVD arrived the following morning Vancouver, B.C. Installation was straightforward - just follow the instructions but timeconsuming. Took one hour to download from Garmin with High Speed internet and then 1 1/2 hr to install on my Nuvi 350 Haven't used it very much yet but did do a bit of exploring of various towns and the new update appears to provide more street names than my previous maps 2008 NT

Pros: quick delivery
Cons: see above
Cons: 1. Didn't know that we needed high speed internet 2. It took 4.5 hours to download it 3. Even though our Garmin model was on your list we had to delete part of the information because there was more info than what it would hold. 4. Our city alone had 25 or so businesses that have been out of business 5-10 years. Deleting that info would have allowed us to put all of the current info on our Garmin 5. We think it would be less frustrating to just buy a new Garmin and that is what we would recommend to anyone who asks.

update arrived next day. installed and site recommended the online update to get right up to date info!This I did but took a very long time even with high speed.However, it worked fine, no problems whatsoever!

QUESTION
I have not yet installed this purchase on my Garmin Nuvi 350. I did not ask, nor was told, that high speed internet aceess was necessary. If possible I would like to return this unit (still in plastic casing - unopened) and purchase an SD card.

UPDATE EXCLUSION
Pros: easy to read
Cons: not suitable for large rv or truck
The update does not consider the type of vehicle one is driving. A class A motorhome or truck is directed onto Parkways, tunnels, and dangerously small roadways. The Nuvi 5000 that I purchased was marketed to RV and truck drivers and all updates should not include illegal or impassable roads.

DOES'NT WORK AT ALL
This up-date in only for one (1) GPS. We have 4, so we would have to buy 4. The one i bouth does'nt work at all and when I called to advise of the problem, somebody told me to call Garmin directly. Nobody speeks French. I would like to have a conversation in French, if somebody writes to me Thank you.PS, when I called Garmin they told me that the up-date for 2010 was activated.(It is not working) we still have 2008 City Navigator.

I got the DVD because I have slow internet connection. So, I was frustrated to find out that I could get the most up- to-date maps by downloading them from the internet. I tried, but it ran and it ran. I'm sure it was downloading the entire map set. Why couldn't it just download the updates, so it didn't take so long...

Takes a long tome to load onto GPS. Garmin should try to speed up the process by updating only the necessary info not already on the GPS unit.

Cons: it just takes quite a while to load the update.
The update instructions were well explained and easy to update our GPS. It took about 1-3/4 hours to load. We were happy with it!

GARMIN GPS NAV NT 2010 UPGRADE
The upgrade is necessary to keep the Nuvi up to date. However this year they changed the way the upgrade is installed on the device. They have the upgrade install the software on your computer and the system needs to access the internet to complete the install. This is way different from previous versions where the upgrade was place directly on the unit through the computer. This made the install a lot longer than previous installs. I did not like the new system. Too complicated and takes resources away from your computer. Garmin needs to take a look at the new install system and in the interest of simplicity and effenciecy go back to the old method of installing their upgrade software. I have no idea why it was installed on my system or how I can reinstall the software if something goes wrong. Their documentation with this product is non-existant. If it works leave well enough alone. If it is not broken don't try to fix it.

Pros: easy installation
Cons: long download time
The download process was very simple and took about 1.5 hours. I was a little concern from reading the reviews about some of the problems I read about. Everything went fine for me with no problems. Take your time to read first before doing anything and you will be fine. The unit belongs to my college student daughter and a can see a difference with the new version. We have a Garmin 66o nuvii

This is only my second purchase on-line with GPS City. I found, as expected, the process to be seamless and painless. The prompt confirmation and delivery of the product was as advertised, actually quicker.
The product does not allow a download of All Canada & ALL of the US. You must choose the area that is best for you.
Next upgrade will be to the "life time update" package.
No provincial sales tax, only the GST at 5%

BEST MAP UPDATE
Pros: very high level of reliable information
Cons: amount of time between updates and cost.
Although I am very happy with my Garmin 660 along with the SW and updates, I cannot compare them to any others. I have traveled across Canada and South from Canada through the US to Mexico with few problems, although there has been some misdirects experienced, with the information or unit. I am very disappointed with the recent loss of signal to my Garmin and the resulting need to replace my Garmin at significant cost when the problem was not my doing.

Seems this update was more for POIs than for maps! Traveling through Wash., D.C. had almost continuous "Recalculating" alerts from unit. Not worth the money!

The changeover process was straight forward and worked as expected. Can't say if the maps are better yet, I haven't needed to use the GPS.

Cons: still not enough water in williams lake - only 1/2
Wow, Garmin found Canada again. Best maps since 2004 – when Navteq took over. There was actually water in Williams Lake - still not quite full - and the Fraser river is there (not there last year. Actually they were not even there in Microsoft’s flight simulator X who used Navteq maps. The rural roads around home are named again and appear to be updated. I feel that this is the first set of maps that I have had in my GPS 7200 that make it worthwhile.

IT WORKS.
I bought the City Navigator map update for Garmin units and have used it just a little so far. But it has some new roads on it, that were missing from my last version the 2008. What it's still missing remains to be seen. But, it works.
