GARMIN NUMAPS NORTH AMERICA LIFETIME UPDATES
I wish you would tell me what has been updated, where, and why. Invested in this so called up-date, and wherre I live, Ottawa Ontario Canada..Shell gas station/Tim Horton's/Rona/ all new...well 3-4 years ago, still do not show on GPS. New section of Hwy 17 (Trans Canada Highway) done 2 years ago, still not showing on GPS upgrade.Travelling to Florida, Applebees Restaurant 3 yrs old, still not showing on GPS. I feel I wastd my money on this upgrade, and would at this stage not recommend it to anyone.
Pros: good marketing...but poor performance Cons: too expensive, no change noted in performance. Recommend: NO

MAP UPDATE
I purchased this map update set after Garmin released a new update only 3 day after I purchased my GPS, unfortunately I had downloaded the previous update and therefore was "no longer eligible" for my one update... silly I know!
Soo.. this seems like a viable option to stay up to date.
GPSCity was VERY fast, in replying to my request to get me the code ASAP and I cannot compliment them enough on their end for another jop well done. In all honesty, I would not buy anywhere else.
Pros: it gives you all the updates they release Cons: it costs, only for "lifetime" (their "lifetime") Recommend: YES

buy that car is ok if plan keep your GPS for many year. if you like have the last one on the market that is not for you. because that is good for an unique map and GPS.
until now i dont have see a big difference between the version of the map. garmin use the same that of Google map with the same error.
ex on my strret the address are from 01- 45 but with google and garmin we have some address until 97 ??? so if you are the type of person who by rim for your winter tire that can be a good choice.

LIFE TIME UPDATES
When i went to down load the maps, it said the gps i was trying to download to, was registered by someone else. Not sure how that happened, seens i am the one that bought it, and registered it. So i thought i would use the ONE TIME REDEMTION on my sons Nuvi. It then told me, that the card had been redeemed already. ( The one that is supposedly not registered to me) After almost punching my comp. screen, it finally let me download to my sons. A painful experience. Hopefully it will be worth it.

GOOD BUY FROM GARMIN
These Garmin map updates are good for the life of the device. You are allowed up to four updates each year. A GPS is of little value for serious travel if the maps and points of interest aren't up to date. I found it easy to install the updates to my Nuvi 760, and I took the opportunity to update the device's firmware at the same time. In addition, if you select the option to first install the maps on your computer before passing through to your GPS, you'll recieve the most recent version of the MapSource program. MapSouce is a great trip planning tool, and you can download your planned route to your GPS. I found this purchase to work as advertised and to be well worth the money.
Pros: up to date maps, mapsource software Cons: download directions could be clearer Recommend: YES

DOWNLOAD AND UPLOAD
Even with high speed internet it took approx 3 hrs to download. I thought it had uploaded at the same time but then found out I had to upload to the gps. This took another hour and a half. Fortunately I did it on my lap top so I didn't tie up my main computer for four plus hours. Other than that it worked fine and service from GPS City was excellent.

GOOD VALUE
Finally Garmin has provided some relief for the cost of buying map upgrades every year. The updating process works well on my PC but it is a bit time consuming. (25 minutes for the last update). So far I have received 2 updates in the 4 months since I purchased this. Not as nice as free map updates but way better than paying a 100 bucks a year.

GOOD PRICE, RELATIVELY EASY INSTALL
Although I have had my nuvi 360 for a while, the lifetime updates seemed like a good idea based on the price and comments that the update on DVD also required a massive Internet download for the latest updates. I followed the instructions posted in the gpscity site, connected the GPS and registered the nuMaps product code. I received an error accessing the GPS - the error message was not helpful.
I went through the Garmin MyDashboard page but was not initially able to find the MyMaps tab. The Garmin site indicated my GPS needed a firmware upgrade, which I successfully applied. I finally found MyMaps and successfully upgraded the maps. The download was going to take a while so I queued it up overnight.
I cannot say that I have noticed a difference in the maps themselves since the areas I normally visit are not undergoing a lot of roadwork. I will have an opportunity to check out the update maps later this month in an area where a bypass was recently built.
Pros: the price was right Cons: it took a few tries to get the install working Recommend: YES

NUMAPS UPDATE
I have given up all control to my GPS. My wife still fights for dominance, but I just let "Karen" tell me where to go. For this reason, map updates are important to me, and this package sure beats buying updated maps one at a time. The download and installation is time-consuming even with a fast connection, but there is a tremendous amount of data involved, and you don't have to stare at the progress bar the whole time. Go read a book. It was very difficult to find where on the website to start the process. That starting point ought to more obvious. You also need to pay close attention and read closely before you click anything during installation.
Pros: cheaper new maps Cons: fix the website! (see above) Recommend: YES

ECONIMIC PURCHASE - DIFFICULT EXECUTION
After purchasing the Lifetime update it is necessary to use Garmin's site to download the updated maps. I could not accomplish the download so began contacting Garmin's email support. After 9 days, 2 Garmin support personnel and 9 very detailed emails, my issue was upgraded to a supervisor who actually read what I had written and my problem was solved. So I can now say that this purchase is a very convenient and economical way to keep updated but high-speed Internet connection is almost a requirement.

GOOD IDEA - BAD DELIVERY MODEL
All this item really is is a numeric code that you use to sign up for map downloads. The map downloads are a good idea but the current process is very painful.
GPSCity shipped via Fedex and the documentation on the site said that no signature would be required. Needless to say, Fedex came when we were not home and did not leave the package. They would not make a same day delivery attempt and their depot, 20 kms from our house, is not open at all on weekends. I did not get the item before my trip not good at all.

Quick delivery and with a fast Internet connection the Update was fast & easy to install and work fine. The accuracy of the map is still questionable however, for ex., André Laurendeau St. H1Y3R6 in Montreal, is still missing, although it has been there for more than 5 years now.

LOOOOOONG UP LOAD
The recent purchase of this card led to a very Frustrating and timely down load ... I was forced to Contact GARMINs tech support ( 20 min on hold) because I could not down load the Maps with the Key code that came on the Card...
GARMIN support had to first walk me through steps to down load another software before I could Down load their GARMIN product...
Funny that THIS info step was not mentioned in the Promotion of this CARD...
Finally after down loading this other software I was then able to down load the Garmin updates which BTW took well over a Half hour....
I spent well over 2 hours trying to get this download... This shold not be...
If your going away and plan to use your GPS on your trip I suggest you plan ahead... The Steps in down loading this info from the Garmin site could be a Pain...

GPS shipped the item quick. Received it on time. I read the reviews by others who had bought the update. If you follow the instructions by GPS City and Garmin the process works just fine. It does take time as the file is huge. So for those who can't read or don't have a high speed connection it could be frustrating. There were no surprises. I have updated once already and look forward to staying up to date now.

ALL OF NORTH AMERICA - NOT
$800 GPS. $120 Maps. Oh sorry, says Garmin, your GPS is so old (1 year) that it can't hold all of North America - only part of it. What part would you like?
Renders it useless for crossing the continent like I needed it for. Only good if you stay on one side of the country.
And it can't use the freaking 16GB SD Card I put in it?
Highly annoyed.

LIFE TIME UP DATES FOR NUVI 660 GPS UNIT
The new updates do not reflect the New sections of twinned highway between Saskatoon SK & Prince Albert. Errors on previous maps are no longer there, very good. I am unable to comment on complete upgrades as we have not taken any long trips. What I can say is this past summer we put 20,000 KM. on our trip to the East coast, and only one time did we get wrong information from the unit. I love it. Only one thing would make it better would be TOPO MAPS available within the unit itself. Dual maps. I know I would pay extra for this as part of the complete unit. I spend many hrs. in the forest traveling old roads I find on old maps. Something to think about for the future. Sincerely Donald

MAP UPDATE
I have never been satisfied with the information/poi's in any of the updates. It seems the information is about 2 years behind reality. So its nice to finally have the 2008 information in my 2010 update. Maybe one day, I will get an update that is only one year behind reality. The other peeve I have with the software is, name uniformity. I dont understand why (for example) a food establishment that has multiple locations shows up in several different categories, and has several different "names" .. Take Chili's for example.. Chili's is either.. "Chili's" or "Chili's Bar and Grill", or "Chili's Grill", etc.. I would there is an easy resolution to that issue, but obviously not discovered...yet.

If you have a problem with your gps unit & not under warranty you have 2 choices sent it to Quebec & spend $89 plus shipping & handling. I only bought the lifetime maps less than 6 months ago. LIFETIME NUMAPS
I have posted a positive review prior but would like to point out a small caveat on this seemingly nice offer on the part of Garmin The Map updates are only for your current Garmin's lifetime This is neat if you have a really recent Garmin BUT when the battery fails on your current unit you are evidently faced with a minimum repair charge of $225 USD regardless of the reason for failure. Thus a failed li ion battery is worth more than a new unit so logic would indicate that you purchase the newest and best of the Garmin lineup many of which will be well under the $225 min. charge. BUT in doing so you lose the value of your LIFETIME Nu Maps because they are not applicable to your new purchase. Thus you have to once again have to purchase a new NUMaps at $120++
Pros: good if you have a new garmin Cons: questionable if your garmin in several years old Recommend: NO OPINION

NUMAPS LIFETIME - BEWARE
Right after registering a $350 Garmin GPS product, I received an E-mail from GPS City inviting me to purchase the nuMaps Lifetime update. It sounded really good so I checked it out. I did find my device on the Garmin Web site compatibility chart so I ordered it. After I received it, the compatibility chart with the nuMaps Lifetime update card appeared to list my device but repeated attempts to activate nuMaps Lifetime were unsuccessful. I repeatedly tried talking to Garmin about this (for about the last month) and am finally convinced I was robbed. At first they told me I had to have "City Navigator North America NT 2010" before I could activate it, so I spent another $100 for that. So now, I can't activate the card and once the scratch-off is removed from the card it is no longer returnable. The thing is, I had to remove the scratch off in order to find out I couldn't activate it. I've used other brand's of GPS units and none of them nickle and dime me like Garmin products. Needless to say, I'm now relunctant to continue with Garmin. I'm not sure what one could do to ensure compatibility prior to making purchases like this. GPS city refers you to Garmin. Garmin's web site doesn't seem to be that easy to use nor effective.

NUMAPS FOR ZUMO 550
Purhcase and delivery of the nuMaps card was excellent. Downloading of the update did take some time on my Zumo 550, even on HS internet. I was disappointed that I could not upload all the regions (Canada & US) onto the Zumo 550 drive (2gb) as I previously did from the NT North American updates disk. However, I was able transfer all the regions on a 4gb SD card and use the SD card to read all the Regions from the unit's SD slot. Have yet to determine if I can still use the same SD card, upload and listen to my mp3's.

GARMIN NUMAPS
First of all this is a good value purchase if up to date maps are necessary for your business or travel.
It does work as promised with several caveats...some minor and some major.
Downloads to your computer are slow unless you have a really high speed connection (I have 129KB/sec connection with Bell) and it took 5+ hours to download the current maps. It then took virtually 2 hour to transfer to the Nuvi 250W. This is not for the impatient user!
If you are a Mac user do not even think about using Safari for the downloads. First of all you need a Communicator Plug In which will not install for Safari unless Flip4Mac is deleted or disabled and even then the Download Manager from Garmin's servers will not allow a connection. Garmin Canada is aware of these conditions and suggest that FireFox 3.5 or better is the route to go. When FireFox 3.5 has the Communicator Plug In installed the installation was flawless albeit horrendously slow as mentioned .
Pros: using firefox the system worked as advertised Cons: garmin still has spotty support for osx /safari Recommend: YES

LIFETIME UPGRADES
As far as the content of the maps, POI, etc I believe they are as best as you can get at this time, NavTec does a good job. As far as installation, ease of registration, customer service, just plain politeness I would jump at the chance to buy anything but Garmin (I own 5 devices) It took me conservatively 2-4 hours of time to upgrade, req loading 3-4 programs/device drivers/etc. Garmin not user friendly & customer service was rude. "Get better light" when I had trouble reading their 1.8 pt font.
Pros: navtec data Cons: installation, time, complexity Recommend: NO

Upgrade of nuvi 260W maps proceeded flawlessly once I managed to get a good download (~2GB) from Garmin. 2009 NUMAPS CARD
Compared to the maps purchased in 2008, this set of maps seems better at accurately locating my car at an intersection.
As for the accuracy of the maps, several times during a recent trip to Ohio and Indianan, the maps could not find the recently constructed road and showed us driving in a field!
The worst aspect of this product is the too fine print explaining how to register the product so as to be able to download the maps.
The Garmin Web site was no help at all.
It took a call to Garmin's customer service to get the registration process underway.
And why are two different product codes necessary?
The one supplied with the plastic card should be sufficient.
Pros: mostly accurate maps Cons: registration process Recommend: YES

GREAT UPDATE
GPS city sent this quickly with no problems, howver paying $12 for a credit card seems a bit steep, that's probably why they upgraded the shipment to express delivery.
Installing and using the software was easy, it only took about 45 minutes to download via a wireless-G connection. The the file size is large, don't try this with dial-up service! The istallation took another 20 minutes on my Nuvi 255
Pros: best way to keep up to date with new roads & poi's Recommend: YES

UPDATE FREQUENCY
The Lifetime Updates advertisement said one could update maps, "... up to 4 times a year for the life of the unit." Although I've owned my GPS at least 4 months, when I checked for updates recently, my current map is still "up-to-date." So, I'm wondering just how often does Garmin up-date these maps? The advertisement would suggest that updates are available about every 3 months. Apparently not.

NUMAPS LIFETIME A BIT OF A PAIN
I really like the idea of paying just once for a lifetime of updates. But, Garmin has not made the download easy to execute. I had to download 4 times to get a successful download (at about 7 hours per download). Even using their download manager (which even that was difficult to download) did not enable me to get an error free download. Even turning off all my antivirus programs, etc. did not help. Finally, with antivirus turned back on, I got an error free download. If I have to go through this much effort every quarter -- the attractiveness of the "deal" will definitely go away.
Pros: lifetime update is nice in theory. Cons: very very difficult to get an error free download. Recommend: YES

LIFETIME MAPS
So far, the only problems I have with the lifetime card deal with the map updates, not the card. I discovered that updating the map online was about a 2G download, which gave me a bit of a headache since I'm on satellite broadband and somewhat limited in speed and daily download. Also, once I got it downloaded, I found that the detail maps I had loaded for Scandinavia wouldn't work. I ended up having to download another update (in the beginning of my trip to Sweden) to get the updated version without the bug. I'm just hoping that the correction download doesn't count as one of the four updates per year that is on the card.
Pros: seems to be a good way to keep up to date maps Recommend: YES

LIFE-TIME MAPS
Happy to have purchased life-time updates, worth every penny to know that your maps are as accurate as any GPS provides. Whereas the maps are great in urban areas they are less than perfect in rural areas - especially in small Canadian rural areas. Seems to be a problem with information provided to Garmin or Garmin's inability to obtain up-to-date Canadian info. Downloading and installing updates is relatively straight forward but time consuming.
Pros: best gps maps available Cons: lacking info in some rural areas Recommend: YES

LIFETIME UPDATES
This is an excellent idea and it works very well. I bought this update and the day that it arrived I updated my nuvi270. The maps are now up to date. What was once a river valley on the original maps now shows the express way that runs through it.
The only con is the slowness of the Garmin servers. It took 2 hours on a cable modem to download and install the update.
Considering the cost of just one update in the past, this is an excellent value and I would highly recommend it.

NUMAPS REVIEW
I have mixed reviews re the Numaps Lifetime, It took 3 days to get it working ok, because I had some music on my Garmin Zumo which used a little memory, so there was not enough room for the numaps lifetime, I only had about 25 U,S states and Canadian towns missing. I had to get Garmin, to take over my computer to load it, plus sitting on the phone for a total of 2.75 hours, and lots of emails. I do have high speed internet but takes a long time to load. Hopefully I will use it this summer on my bike trips
Pros: should save money if the zumo lasts a few years Cons: very long time to load, uses nearly all the memory Recommend: YES

GOOD PRODUCT-BAD DATA
I like the idea of the card even though the download took many hours (even in the early AM). What is bad is the data supplied by NavTech-for the four mile street that I live on every address is located incorrectly. My house is shown two miles from actual. It has been this way for years and repeated requests to Garmin/NavTech have gone unanswered. And just a few weeks ago in Savannah we found that a business we were looking for was shown one mile incorrect. I just hope my local EMS does not use Garmin to find me. NavTech needs a complete overhaul.
Pros: lifetime card is a good idea Cons: someone needs to give navtech some competition Recommend: NO

I was quite disappointed with this product. Even though I have "high speed" I found the download time excessive. Also, I can only use a portion of the map at any one time. To travel from Fl to Nova Scotia Canada I have to download the Eastern Seaboard. If I travel to Mid Wester USA I have to download another section of maps. When asking about the product at GPS City I was assured that all of the USA and Canada could be downloaded into my GPS. I wasn't told that I could only download a portion of the maps I needed.

NUMAPS NORTH AMERICA LIFETIME UPDATES
The nuMaps Lifetime update is certainly less expensive than buying new maps every year. The maps are at least as good a quality as the original maps, plus they are very up-to-date, which I found useful in an area where freeways are constantly under construction. Garmin allows the maps to be updated up to 4 times per year. I was irritated that it took me nearly an hour to find the online location for registering the card and updating the maps. The location was not clearly located in the product manual, nor could I find it on Garmin's home site. I finally found it by typing various keywords into GOOGLE. (By the way, the update site I finally found is "http://www.gps-update.com/garmin- updates/garmin-numaps-lifetime"). Once I found the site though, the download went fairly smoothly. It was a slow download though (2 hours on high speed) so it is not recommended for those with slower internet connections. In spite of these minor difficulties, I like the product, and the fact that I can update the maps as I need them without any additional charge.
Pros: inexpensively keeps your maps up-to-date Cons: instructions not clear, downloading is slow Recommend: YES

NOT WHAT I EXPECTED.
First, I thought I was buying a new map set. Second, even though this item was heavily promoted, it appears there is no new map set at this time. Lastly, I can find no instructions on how to use it anywhere. It may work, but it may take months (when new maps come out) before I find that out. Once again, Garmin figured out how to make updating maps a miserable experience.

GARMIN NUMAPS NORTH AMERICA LIFETIME UPDATES
The idea of being able to download map updates up to 4 times per year is great, but in practice, there are some major downsides to this product.
The first is that the process is very slow. The updates are huge - 2 GB in size - so they take a long time to download and quite a while to unpack and install on the unit.
The second is the Garmin Download Manager is buggy and it corrupts the files. I attempted to download the updates several times (hours each time) only to find they would not unpack due to corrupted files. After several attempts, I called for support, where I found the third problem which is how poor Garmin's technical support is. Not only did I have wait for hours to talk to them, but they blamed the problem on my computer, my internet connection, my antivirus software and my anti-spyware software, anything but their own product. Finally, I gave up and bypassed the Garmin Download Manager, which solved the problem. While it supposedly increases download speed and allows an interrupted download to be restarted, all it did for me was corrupt the files. (Manually download was the same speed.) When I downloaded the update manually, the files were not corrupted and they installed properly.
It's unfortunate that Garmin took a great idea and executed it so incredibly poorly.
Pros: if this product worked better it would be great Cons: slow download / unpack, buggy download manager Recommend: YES

AWFUL DOWNLOAD PROCESS
Tried 6 times on 3 different computers, all on DSL, couldn't get clean download or install. Garmin has the most cumbersome log-in and unlock processes ever. Phone help is permahold and awful. email help is slow and awful. Problem is that the download is one huge file and any little blip kills it. To add insult to injury, the download is cluttered with infomercials about Garmin's wonderful products. Don't bother! Buy the SD card instead if you need an update.
Pros: none! Cons: horrible download system, worse help. Recommend: NO

VERY EASY AND SMOOTH DOWNLOAD AND MAP UPDATE!
Received the numaps lifetime card in 7 days, very happy that I had to pay just 5% tax, the D/L of 1.91GB took 70 min, it went very smoothly, then about 2 hrs to extract and install the new CN NA NT 2010.10, all together I'm a very happy camper! Don't know yet how many updates since my previous map I was using before, the 2008 CN NA NT. And let's see how many updates will be out there per year, it says 4/year, time will tell! Using a Garmin 350 purchased a year ago and planning on using it until will die on me, hopefully at least 5 more years!
Pros: smooth d/l, 70 min for 1.91gb Cons: yes, this product is not cheap but on a long run.. Recommend: YES

UPDATES SHOULD BE FREE CONSIDERING COST OF PRODUCT
I have a Zumo 550 and payed a pretty expensive price for it a year ago because it was made for a motorcycle and is water proof and glove friendly. Needless to say I am happy with the product for what it will do but after spending $639.00 cdn at the time and now being asked for another $125.00 cdn for updates is a real slap in the face by Garmin. Next time around I will be sure to shop elsewhere for a similar product. I think Garmin should reconsider and offer updates for free since there products are not the cheapest on the market. Definitely gougers if you are asking me.
Pros: none Cons: to costly and do not recommend Recommend: NO

NUMAPS NORTH AMERICA LIFETIME UPDATES
Definitively to expensive for updates. If we consider the price we pay for a Garmin unit, all future updates should be free. TomTom updates are free and units are also cheaper to buy. Consumers today are looking for the best product at the cheapest price. I, personally, would not pay for any updates, unless you can guarantee me that my gps unit will last at least 25 years.

GREAT PROFIT SCHEME
Like others have stated, I own 7 Garmin GPS units and I should only have to buy 1 mapping product for all of my registered units, not 1 for each. Most of the previous updates I have received do not provide enough new data to justify the cost.
Pros: good maps Cons: can't use on more than 1 of your registed units. Recommend: NO

NUMAPS LIFETIME
People, ask yourself do you really NEED new maps every quarter? Don't kid yourself, the very latest bestest ever maps contain bizarre errors and omissions , particularly in Canada. Were you buying the yearly updates, or were you buying them every two or three years? How many years do you expect to use your gps? my history bought units in 00, 03, 06, 08....So I get 2-3 years per unit, so I can buy one upgrade for $50 in year 2 and be fine.

LIFETIME IS FOR THE GPS, NOT THE USER
I have dug into the Terms and conditions on the Garmin website and see that the Lifetime is for the "useful Life" of the unit the nuMaps is initially downloaded onto.
Seems to me that if you want to get a future new GPS, you have to get an additional Lifetime Update package. I can buy a new Nuvi 750 for $198, get latest maps for free download. Improved machines are being announced every six months. The internal batteries don't seem to last more than 2 years.
This software should be sold to the user for use on any and all of their machines.
BTW, I want to see Garmin actually providing quarterly map updates before I shell out any money.
Pros: maps look great. Cons: buy a new gps, need a new lifetime Recommend: NO

UPDATE COMMENTS
The download of a 2GB file is painful. It would be better if the download was done with several smaller files like 200MB each. I had issues of corruption. Once I did the download with out a wireless LAN connection, no problem. It just took a LONG time. I'd rather download 10 200MB files, have them error checked than one massive file.
Pros: cost of unlimited downloads was very good Cons: 1 big file Recommend: YES

THIS UPDATE IS OVERSIZE
Garmin do not advise customers about the size of this update and it's impossible to put ALL the maps into the Zumo GPS. After I lost all the maps included into my Zumo, suppose to be replaced by the new update. After 10 times downloading and a couple of hours waiting or speaking to peopple from Garmin support I give up and used Mapsource to put All the maps into a sd card for my Zumo.

UPDATE SOFTWARE
This is the second update I've done on my Garmin Nuvi 360, the 1st was the traditional $80 software last year. I purchased the lifetime update online on March 10 and received it March 11. While the update downloads a massive amount of data I believe the cost of the regular s/w offsets the 2+ hour wait to even get the downloaded software. You definitely need a high speed internet connection to make it worthwhile. The install process went very smooth and my unit worked great on the vacation in the Orlando area.
Pros: lifetime updates, one time cost, easy to use Cons: huge download Recommend: YES

NUMAPS NORTH AMERICAN LIFETIME UPDATES
This onetime payment makes sense for me since I bought a very expensive Zumo 550 for my motorcycle and car. The updates come over the internet so if you have a slower DSL connection you might want to do it late at night when there is less traffic on the backbone. I'm very happy with the upgrade.
Pros: save a bundle over the once yearly updates. Cons: takes at least 3 hours to upload the maps. Recommend: YES

I like this product because prior to it I had to pay about $60 a year to update my GPS, this allows updatesfor the lifetime of the unit. I can update quarterly if I chose to and Garmin will e- mail me when new maps are available. I had some initial problems activating to start but Garmin fixed them quickly.

LIFETIME MAP UPDATES
The maps are standard Garmin maps that are great. Haven't found a problem with directions or POI. The bad part is the amount of time it takes to download. I'm using a high speed DSL line and it took me SIX (6) HOURS. My advice..just let it run all night and finish in the morning.

BEST PRICED WAY TO UPDATE YOUR GPS
I had no problems using this product. It takes time to download and install maps, but if you use a fast internet conection it is reasonable. Over all I am very pleased with Garmin's lifetimes updates and found it easy to use. I bought one for my GPS and was very pleased so I bought a second for my wife's gps and a third for my motor home's gps. If you have accsess to a high speed internet conection I would recommend this product.

BETTER NOW..
I ran the update again on a real PC (not Mac with Boot Camp this time) and everything came out ok. Rocky first two attempts still left me with a bad taste in my mouth. 1 year old restaurant still not in the POI's. If you can get by without it, I'd wait for the 2010 update. I'd give it a "maybe" recommendation.

I WANT A REFUND!
The first 2gb download got interrupted 3/4 of the way through so I had to start over. After finally getting the upgrade, the Garmin site said I had to do it a 2nd time. After the 2nd "upgrade", it said still I have one more to do. 45min download + another 45 to update the unit (each time)- very time consuming. The WORST PART is that there are now many roads MISSING from my unit making navigating between customers in rural areas extremely difficult. I'm finding some businesses over a year old aren't even in the database yet and the gps sometimes prefers less direct and slower routes! If I didn't have to have this for my business travel, I would send it back for a reprogramming back to its original state.. (which I could have done myself, if they hadn't been so cheap and included the basemap dvd like they used to do). Disappointment is an understatement!
Cons: a serious downgrade to my gps! Recommend: NO

NUMAPS UPDATE CARD
I had a lot of trouble getting this update card to work. It took about a week with phone and emails to get it working. I was trying to update my GPSMAPS 60CSx unit. I think Garmin just didn't expect anyone to be updating what is now a pretty old unit. It was a compatible unit, but they had to keep changing their server script in order for it to work. TRANSFERABLE SOFTWARE LICENSE
First, I love Garmin Products and own 4. In the technology world, we purchase hardware, that can and will eventually fail, and we replace it. We purchase software to use on that hardware. I don't know of a single piece of software that is not transferable to any hardware that I own, until now! I agree with Garmin, that I can only use the Maps on a single device at any given time, but the choice of device it's being used on should be mine, not Garmin's. It needs to be transferable to any other device I own.
Pros: great concept - long overdue! Cons: protectionism/overly restrictive license Recommend: YES

I AGREE 100% WITH MYSTERY CRUISER....
For people who own ONE GPS, and only care about it's MAP, this would be a nice feature/purchase. However, how long do you own one GPS? More than a year? 2 years? How often does the roads, and POIs change in a year? Not too often... and a $100 can go a long way in a year and a half when your about to buy a new, better, and more up to date GPS (technology grows by leaps and bounds each year). I too use multiple GPS's and Multiple mapping software databases, so this would never work for me.

LIFETIME MAPS BUT OBSOLETE GPS'S
I have a problem with this lifetime update concept in that it is only for one GPS. I run several, marine, offroad and hiway and I have already replaced old (5 yrs) GPS technology with newer. So I can't see the benefit of a lifetime of updates for an older soon to become, obsolete GPS... If it were transferrable to those units registered to you, then YES I would endorse this product.

WORKS GREAT GOOD DEAL
For the cost of 2 updates this lifetime pays for itself. I just did it and it worked great. Of course it takes some time but if you want all if you want up to date map data and also at the same time update your computers this is the way to go. You can update both your PC and your Laptop at no additional charge but this will work on only 1 GPS. You can do any number of computures but only 1 GPS as it has always been in the past. Great idea and worth every penny if you want to keep your GPS current. It also updates all the POI's at the same time and this update will upgrade your Mapsource to the latest version.
Pros: never have an outdated map again. Cons: it does take some time for the download Recommend: YES

IT WORKED... EVENTUALLY
I tried this out - sort of. I used the same update method, as I was given 1 free update with my new Nuvi 760. HUGE download (2GB) means it takes a couple of hours to download and install.
Didn't work the first time - it actually wiped my maps/POI database. Garmin suggested I reinstall, and that worked fine.
For those who like to keep up to date - it will be a good thing, but be prepared to spend 8 hours per year keeping your Nuvi up to date.
