GOOD BUT KEEP EYES OPEN
Mounted on a Yamaha Super Tenere motorcycle. Works great, but I have caught the GPS half way out.

SIMPLE AND SECURE
Pros: solid,clean mount Cons: none
This is a solid mount for the Montana. Easy to install and release and won't come out accidentally. I don't use the little hold-down screw and special screwdriver (not sure that this is really necessary or effective as anti-theft as the whole Ram mount could be easily removed). I bought a cigarette lighter plug at The Source and installed it on the power cable so I could move between my ATV and vehicles. I'm also using this on a Ram ball-type mount. Works very well for ATV or car.

EXCELLENT MOUNT FOR MY ATV
Pros: holds the gps securely Cons: i only needed the power not the audio and data

Pros: seems functional Cons: impossible to mount as is.
Unless you plan on duct taping this unit to your handlebars it is impossible to mount as is. You might try advertising this unit along with the 'ball' that needs to be attached along with the mount itself as one unit. If you plan on continuing to sell it as is then it should be advertised as a Montana docking unit not a Rugged Mount.

THE RIGHT TOOL FOR THE JOB
Pros: well designed, secure, stable
I use the Montana AMPS Rugged mount on my Adventure/Touring motorcyle with the 3" Ram Arm. Very easy to install the GPS and make it reasonably secure and stable. The rubber boot used to cover the electrical contacts when the GPS is not mounted fits very securely and has proven itself reliable in heavy rainfall.

CAN CONNECT TO UNSWITCHED (ALWAYS HOT) POWER
This is an addition to my earlier review. The really cool thing about using this mount on a motorcycle (and other vehicles with small-capacity batteries) is that you can safely connect it to unswitched power (i.e. a lead that is hot even when the ignition and accessories are switched off, e.g. directly to the battery) without fearing to drain the battery when not using the vehicle for a while. The reason for this is that the dc-dc power converter is built-in to the Montana itself, not the cradle (instructions say it accepts a range of 10-50VDC). So the cradle just passes whatever voltage it's connected to the device, thus if you take the Montana out of the cradle there is zero power consumption. Regular dc-dc switching power supplies consume some power even when no load is connected to them (I've measured from around 4 to 9 mA for a couple of automotive phone chargers I've tested) and can drain the battery if the vehicle is left unattended for several weeks. Not so when using this mount. So I highly recommend connecting to an unswitched power supply, this way the backlight will be kept on even if you turn off the engine for a bit.

Great design and quality, matches other RAM hardware really well. To connect the power you have to connect the red wire to a hot (switched or unswitched, depending on how you like it) wire on your vehicle, and the black wire to a reliable ground (anywhere on the vehicle's frame or any ground wire).

ROCK SOLID ON A BICYCLE
Pros: sturdy solid Cons: a little heavy if using ram handlbar system
I mounted this to my hybrid bicycle handlebars using the RAM mount system and RAM-B-202U adapter ball. I hit a tooth jarring Pothole at a high speed and the Montana 650 GPS stayed on steady as a rock as the water bottles few out of their holders. The entire setup (GPS, Batteries, all Mount components)weighs in at 22.5 Oz. Two star tiny star screws hold the connector harness to the mount but can be removed with a small flat head jewlers screw driver without damage and can be re-installed if necessary. I have the bicycle version of this on back order but may just end up sticking with this.

AWESOME, LOCKABLE, RUGGED MOUNT
Pros: rugged, lockable Cons: non-working serial lines (for now)
I use this on my offroad motorcycle along with a RAM mount and it works great.
The ability to charge the battery on the move is also neat.
The mount appears to be purely passive (no electronic bits in there).
It comes with a special tool to turn a locking screw which prevents the removal of the Montana while I'm away from my bike.
Unfortunately, the RS232 lines are not currently working (firmware 3.30, 2011-09-08) though Garmin says they're working on it. This means I can't use it as part of my APRS system.

GOOD BUT HAD TO MODIFY.
Pros: works as it should. Cons: would prefer a (opional)thumb type security screw.
Great for what it is. Too bad Garmin doesn't make what I really wanted. For off-road ATV use I had to cut off all the wires except the two power wires. Then I purchased a cigarette lighter outlet plug from Radio Shack and connected it to the power leads. It now plugs into my ATV socket. This works fine, but why can't I just buy a mount this way?
I also changed the security screw so I could quickly remove the GPS unit when needed. If someone wants to steal the GPS they will simply take the mount with the unit still attached.

SOLID MOUNT AT A REASONABLE PRICE
Pros: light, durable, inexpensive Cons: none
This mount is very well made, and looks like it will last well. I use it on my motorcycle and feel very confident that the gps will stay right where it is.
I used RAM mount parts to hold this on the bike. I replaced the adjustment knob on the RAM arm with a self locking 1/4" nut so thieves can't quickly remove the gps and mount.
Rather than hook the power cable up to the bike's battery, I soldered a modular SAE power adaptor to the end of the cable. That makes the mount quick to move between any of the motorcycles I am using that day.
Volume Control Information: It's not obvious how you would adjust the audio volume with this mount, and the other mounts in the Montana line, so here is how you do it:
- When your Montana is plugged into the mount, push the power button on the Montana and in the Brightness Adjustment screen which pops up you'll also find a Volume Adjustment option.
This option only shows up if you have the gps plugged into a powered/audio capable mount, or if you have earphone/earbuds plugged into the audio output connector on the gps.

GARMIN MONTANA RUGGED MOUNT
Pros: cost Cons: not any that i can think of
Purchased for the Montana 650T so I would have power when on the motorcycle. I ordered with the RAM-B-347U AMPS adapter. Works great! Mount has a security screw at the top to prevent the eject button from working. When screwed down, the eject will not work and prevents the Montana from accidentally falling off. Security screw tool is also included along with screws needed to mount to the AMPS adapter. Headphone jack also allows you to connect headphones so you can hear driving instructions.
