FOUND THE RIGHT WIRE
I was looking for a replacement 12V adapter for my motorcycle (clutch handle ate the last plug) and other places only had the coily type cords. Nice to have a lay flat cord that stays where it is put.

GENUINE GARMIN CABLE
Pros: works perfectly on my garmin 1490t
Cons: none
After searching on Amazon and not being able to confirm if the cable is a genuine Garmin product or not - I purchased the cable from GPSCITY. It arrived quickly and is in fact the genuine item.

Original cable only lasted 2 yrs before breakdown of angle connection that plugs into Garmin. Hope this one last longer.

I purchased this cable so I could leave it hooked up to my motorcycle. I routed it through the fairing and it is not visible other then the connection to the GPS.

Cons: quick service
Was very disappointed that this was the one linked to our Garmin StreetPilot C550 on your sight as I ordered it not realizing it wasn't the correct one, therefore having to pay to return this one & pay to reship the correct one.
Am very pleased with the replacement one just disappointed in paying an extra amount for returning & reshipping.

WHY is it that the design department who created this cable did not take into account that the GPS CANNOT be laid flat because the plug into the GPS sticks out so far from the back of the GPS. It is surely not beyond the capabilities of Garmin to make the power plug SIDE entry or a FLAT or recessed plug so that motorcycle riders like myself can use the garmin GPS inside our tank map cases. If I was buying a new GPS I would ensure that it could be used lying flat inside my map case. COME ON GARMIN. YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS. "Scottie."

Garmins idea of a 12 volt power supply leaves a lot to be desired. the best way to describe the connection is micky mouse.The power adapter does work fine its just the connector is very poor

Small Problem ith the mounting bracket. There is a small bar that prevents the cable from from pluging in proporly. I had to cut that little bar partly out.
