GPS IN ENGLAND
Pros: accurate, detailed, helpful Cons: none
We used this map during a recent trip of a month to England. We drove to Newcastle Airport twice, to the Roman Wall, the Lake District (through narrow back lanes), to York and to Edinburgh as well as to see various friends in odd little villages. We have used our GPS in Canada & the US many times. This time it proved equally invaluable getting us through unknown towns and back streets without a problem.

GOT US THERE, NO PROBLEM
We used this card in a Garmin GPS to get us from Gatwick airport to Rustington, took us right to the door of our friends. Then to Bristol, again to the right place, and a country home near West Overton. Then into a London suburb, and finally to Edinburgh and on to Strathkinness and St. Andrews. As long as I entered the right address, we had no problems. In Britain, there are streets with the same name in adjacent towns, and they meld into one another, so you have to make sure you get it right.

GARMIN MICROSD CITY NAVIGATOR EUROPOPE NT UK AND I
Pros: easy to use Cons: none for me.
Used the unit and SD card in England and Scotland. Worked very well and very accurate. Had it's quirky moments in very inhabited areas but able to sort things out. Most quirky moment just human error. Sometimes, not many, told me to turn left when it should have been right. GPS perhaps so sensitive that it picks up insignificant stuff that we don't see. All in all would not go to UK without it. Looking forward to using other SD's for Europe and other places.

CITY NAVIGATOR NT UK AND IRELAND CARD
Pros: useful when in cities Cons: couldn't navigate through detours
We found this map program extremely helpful especially when in cities. It also got us out of problems when we were not sure where we were.
It was difficult at times in Ireland because many of the B and Bs we were searching did not have addresses- just names of towns. Often had to use the Irish GPS which is roll down the car window and ask someone for help

COULDN'T HAVE LEFT HOME WITHOUT IT
Pros: directions were very clear and up to date Cons: doesn't always give you the shortest route
Can't imagine driving around Britain without my Garmin GPS. I purchased the SD card since I didn't want to mess with downloading and not having it installed properly on my unit. GPSCity had it in stock and it took only 5 business days to reach me. I popped the card into the GPS and it loaded without a hitch. The UK/Ireland map got me through the many mazes and traffic circles around Scotland. It also helped me find gas stations and restaurants even in small towns and villages. Totally worth the money. As a previous reviewer mentioned, when using any GPS, it's always wise to have a map as a back-up or review your routes on google maps first.

KNOWS THE OLD ROADS BUT MISSES NEWER ONES
Pros: good on older roads Cons: needs to be updated more frequently
Used ona 10 day trip to Ireland. On most older roads it was fine, but did not have segmwnts of the M4 and M6 in the database. It was handy to have and useful, but you still need paper maps as a backup. It also may sometimes try to take you down 1 way streets, so don't follow it blindly. Good, but not perfect

WATCH OUT!!!!
Pros: have uk and irish maps Cons: don't trust them, still buy a paper copy
First route I tried it put me on non-existing roads (as per my verydetailed street atlas and Google. Second, you cannot preplan with the chip, you have to buy the DVD version - would have been nice to know. Also could not buy direct, US told me to buy from Canada - and when I relized the issue they would not exchange - in short - Screwed.

ALL THE LITTLE ROADS
we are using this now to get around england and scotland. it is working well. all the back roads are on here, which is great because that is what we are using. i would highly recommend this to anyone who is doing driving around england. there were a few errors, like exit number of roundabout, but you just have to pay attention. my husband is driving and i'm the navigator. the big problem is the signs in england - virtually no info, hardly any street signs, no NSEW indications, they seem to be made for the native driver.

IT WAS HELPFUL, BUT WE STILL NEEDED A PAPER MAP !!
Pros: fine for getting around the cities. Cons: keep a new paper map with you.
While this Garmin map of UK/Ireland was useful, it had MANY errors. While it seemed up to date, as many intersections marked as 'NEW' on street signs were mapped correctly. Street names used in the Garmin map varied from posted street names quite often. I lost count of the number of times it gave the wrong exit number on a round-about, The Garmin would say, 'take 2nd exit on round-about', but I really needed the 1st or 3rd. On 3 occasions we were on a motor way and the Garmin took us off the motor way, through a round-about and then back on to the same motor way. Twice while driving I ignored the Garmin's instruction and went onto a motor way that was NOT mapped into the Garmin. How could a motor way be missed by Garmin ? While this Garmin map was useful, if we did not have a paper map with us we would have driven the long way several times. The locations of 'Attractions' was very hit and miss. Some of the biggest tourist spots in Ireland were either not listed or had the wrong location for them given.

Pros: easy to use Cons: not all tourist spots (names) found in chip
Update to a previous review. We just finished a trip to Scotland (West, East, North) primarily in May and would not have wanted to be without it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for those unfamiliar with the roads in that country and like to travel off the beaten motorways like I. There was only one instance that it had a little trouble finding the Falkirk Wheel but the unit's second choice of direction was spot on. We relied on it getting through cities like Glasgow and drivint about in Edinburgh with no issues.

Just used this product in the UK, and it didn't let me down. Highway maps were excellent, and also used it in pedestrian mode within London. I'd say if you're going to the UK, you will need this one. Found my way through a maze of roundabouts and "slipways" without hesitation.

NAVIGATION IN IRELAND
Cons: needs to be brought up to date
On the whole I found this product to be useful. While I have only used it in Ireland I assume my remarks probably apply to the other countries included on this chip. My main difficulty with this product is that it needs to be updated. From time to time I would find that newer roads and interchanges were not on the map. Thus I would find myself 'driving' on what the GPS was claiming was open country. But, as I say, most of the time it was very useful so I provisionally recommend it. In somer cases it might be better to get the latest downloaded maps instead.

Pros: had all the major atractions, never got us lost Cons: was missing some road ways
came in very handy on our trip to ireland, my wife and I drove around the country and are extreemly glad we had this map software. It took us through some interesting and tight back roads but were rewarded with the sights we saw on these roads. The only downfall is some of the roads were not on the map in one case a major motorway, but we were never lost

ROAD TRIPS IN IRELAND AND SCOTLAND
Pros: good detail Cons: none so far
We are currently visiting Scotland and last week used the UK and Ireland card to get us around Dublin and to the Cliffs of Mohor on the west coast or Ireland, and then to travel from Edinburgh airport south along the Borders in Scotland, over to the east coast and back up to Edinburgh. The only challenges we had were due to detours for local road construction, and the map not including one new motorway west of Dublin which just opened. The detail for roundabout exits was excellent, even for most in country.

I have not yet used the card other that to check that it did have the Ireland maps, which it did. I don't go to Ireland until September. However, I did travel in Ireland two years ago and a friend had a Garmin GPS and after using it I went out and bought my own here in North America. Up until that point I was reluctant to use one. EXCELLENT STREET MAPPING....EXCEPT....
Pros: town/city street mapping Cons: mapping chip not current (1-2yrs. out of date)
Street mapping in Scotland/England excellent. Exception being: chip of maps is at least 1 year out of date. Showing roundabouts where instead there are flyovers (some on the M1 and M6 approx 2yrs. old). New intersections (1 yr. new) not showing. Roundabouts and postal codes (1 yr. new)not showing. found that extremely frustrating. But, in the confusion of England/Scotland cities it guided us perfectly (especially keeping to the correct lanes on the myriad on-ramp/exit lanes of the City of Glasgow. Easy to key in destinations. We called the SatNav "sadie". The computer generated voice was quite funny trying to pronounce the 'Scots' street names!! We wouldn't drive in the UK without our Garmin (and we are UK ex-pats).

We loved this product!! We only toured around Ireland, but this made roundabouts a lot easier and was only off a couple of times when they turned the roundabout into a light controlled intersection. The GPS took us down some crazy roads, but we just laughed it made our driving trip a lot more fun. The only thing we would suggest is that if you miss a turn, stop and correct yourself instead of letting it recalculate as you can waste a lot of time. Overall great product!!

plugged it in to the bottom of my nuvi 760 and fired it up. 1400 miles across the UK in ten days with a roundabout every 2 miles. no way i would have survived without it. for the most part complete and up to date. lost its head navigating the service roads in and around heathrow and it just checked out of the process. would also be useful to have an option to force m category motorways vs. the a roads - had to manually set up routes to get that happening. not sure that timing data is accurate as it did choose some congested routes. an avoid less than car width lanes would also have been useful in some rural areas given that i was driving a mercedes e-class. on the whole a very useful and functional piece of kit. gpscity responsive and fast. it was expensive.

GARMIN MICROSD CITY NAVIGATOR EUROPE NT UK AND IRE
Bought this card so I could use my Street Pilot 530 in the UK for a rental car vacation. product was shipped very promptly by GPS City - will definitely do business with you guys again. Go Canada! Generally happy with the card and the unit easy to install - plugged straight into the card slot, and the unit on power-up recognised the card and worked. But ... while in the UK constantly had to let the unit know that I was in the UK and so to search for locations there, not North America! More frustrating, driving in York and navigating to a parking station and it tells me to turn right ... into a oneway street going the wrong way. Locals told me this street has been oneway for as long as anyone can remember. Unit also asked me to make a U-turn in the middle of a freeway! Navigating to Stonehenge it took us on tiny backroads (very scenic, very 'England', but locals agreed the route taken was very odd), and some of the landmarks used names that differed from what they're commonly known by. Lots of newer road (I had the 2008) changes were not included. Also, who can figure out what 'point 5 miles' is? The UK insists, like our American friends, on using antiquated units, which is fine, the unit will use imperial or metric, but decimal miles??? Just give the distance in feet, yards or cubits! Nonetheless, I would recommend buying this card if you already own a Garmin and want to use it in the UK. Better yet, rent a GPS from the rental car company.
