MAPS OFFSET, TECH SUPPORT CAN NOT FIX.
Cons: does not work
Contacted tech support half a dozen times. They don't know how to fix. Said .bin file should work but it doesn't. Don't waste your money. Just buy GPS in China.

STILL AN OFFSET
Pros: not so expensive. Cons: can't use to navigate.
I bought this after calling Garmin and GPScity who both assured me it would work. I had my doubts but still bought it figuring it would be somewhat useful in China. It is useful as a map and showing the general direction of where to go, but it is not useful for driving. The funny thing is that my iPhone has the same offset, but my Nokia phone does not have an offset. Maybe it has to do with the map technology. I have used this with a C530 bought in Canada. I suspect it works fine with a unit bought in China.

WOW !!!!!
Pros: very accurate, very fast, clear spoken instruction
I'm an American and I have lived in China for 3 years now and get lost often. I just bought a car and want to travel more. I heard bad things with the Garmin Street Navigator CHINA. I gambled and bought this map in English for my new Garmin 785T. I'm very happy to say that it works fantastic. I did not have the problems I hear about your location on map is being 400-500 yards off. Mine is right on. Perfect. I get full signal strength and fast, accurate response.

USELESS
Pros: it fits into the sd-card slot. Cons: can't find any!
This product is not really showing your location. Navigating by it is impossible, it always show you on a road several blocks from where you actually are. The maps are also a bit out of date. It also makes your Nüvi hang on start. My reset button already has a large hole. What was Garmin thinking???

STILL A PROBLEM
Pros: pretty pictures and roads Cons: worthless as a navigational tool
I bought this product assuming (based on the reviews) that the offset problem was solved. WRONG! I am finding that my waypoints are not correctly placed on the map offset appears random and is at least 500m off. Nice to be able to see roads and places, but worthless as a navigational tool if you're not located properly on the map!

GARMIN MICROSD CITY NAVIGATOR CHINA WITH ADAPTER
Finally, my Garmin is now working fine with this map...essentially, Garmin has omitted a “006B082300.bin” file in their earlier batch of SD card that were sold in the United States, once, this "bin" file is copied to the SD card, it will solve all the offset problems faced...It is sad that Garmin didn't recall their faulty product swiftly to avoid all the convenient caused to their "loyal" customers...

USELESS IN HONG KONG
Pros: the map loads Cons: the map is completely useless
City Navigator SE Asia loads fine. I can see pretty colors and street names. Great! Now let's try it as a navigator to get me from one place to another (after all, it is a navigation device right?) First test: Tuen Mun to Central -- a relatively easy trip that takes 30 minutes by taxi. With the aid of my navigator, I made it to Central in just 2 hours and 45 minutes. I finally had to give up on the navigator directions otherwise I would have ended up in Vietnam. Don't waste your money on this for use in Hong Kong unless all you really want is an expensive mp3 player / mobile phone speaker for your car.

USELESS
This map was a real disappointment! Several contacts with Garmin's Customer Service has not helped. They still claim that it should work. Offset here in Beijing is about 400 meters. Since Nokia bought Navteq I guess Garmin can no longer get quality maps. The new products also have several bugs and failures. I was more happy with my old Garmin 12XL :-)

I bought my China map in U.S. on September 6 for my Garmin 760 where it was great in the U.S. and Singapore. However, I am facing the same offset problem when I returned to Tianjin in China where I have been working and living here for the last three years. As the rest have mentioned, it is totally useless! As for the firmware update, yes, it can be done in Beijing, but my concern is that once you have the update done where the unit can be used in China, but you might faced a new problem - i.e. your unit will give you the offset problem in other countries...

I cannot believe that Garmin would knowingly sell a product to people that they know has a major flaw and then expect repeat customers. I used my Nuvi 250 in Europe and it worked perfect, so I was very disappointed to see/hear of these problems. I have used Garmin products for many years, but will look hard at any future purchases. I am in China now with my "10 cent" compass, and can't decide what to do to solve the problem, since all the units here only have Chinese characters and language available as far as I know.

I bought this card directly off the Garmin web site after I found I was getting sent to China for work, and Olympics on the side. I have the same 400 metr offset problem. The map is unusable. I can only use my nuvi 760 as a 10 cent compass. Garmin support acknowledges the problem but no ETA on a fix. I don't want my money back, I NEED a download ASAP. What a blunder.

DO NOT BUY THIS MAP !!!! Unless you have a unit made and sold in China by Unistrong, Garmin's Chinese partner, with the special firmware. This is a long-standing issue with this and all previous versions of City Navigator China. The offset was deliberate to prevent marketing of this map outside of China, apparently due to Chinese regulations. The Unistrong firmware has a correction built in. It is totally incomprehensible why Garmin started selling this map outside of China without resolving this issue.

GPS CHINA
Well I am a fool also as I went out of my way to buy the map when I was in Canada. The support group is just giving me the run around after several weeks of conversing with them. Maybe now I know why the company is in trouble with their market! If they do not get this fixed it will be the last product I buy from them - but maybe they don't care.

Thank you for contacting Garmin International.
The issue exists in the way the information was provided to us by the Chinese government. Due to their regulations, mapping information sent out of China must be shifted slightly compared to the actual layout of their grid mapping.

What you say is probably true but Garmin has been advertising this map for travelers from the US to China (vis: "Are you traveling to Beijing this summer?") and says nothing on their website about a requirement of buying a Nuvi in China. I have been working with Garmin support on this for the past two weeks.

MAJOR PROBLEM WITH GARMIN CHINA
I am in China now with this map. I bought the City Navigator to use with my Nuvi 660. There is a fundamental problem with the maps. Your position has a constant offset that puts you about 400 meters from your acutal position making it impossible to use. Routing is not possible because it will continually recalculate because it thinks you are off the road you are on.
This is probably due to a map datum offset. Probably an easy fix for Garmin. Hope they come out with an online fix so I can use it here.
