HR MONITOR
Pros: works well, comfortable, accurate Cons: none
After loosing my first one i purchased i purchased a second one b/c of how well it works. It seems fairly accurate to my HR during exercise and links with my garmin 500 every time w/o hassle. When on i do not notice it during exercise fairly comfortable

VERY SOFT STRAP
Pros: super soft
The previous verion of the soft strap was nice but I ruined it by running it through the washing machine. This one is even softer and more comfortable. These soft strap HR montitors are way more comfortable and only slightly more money than the non-soft strap version. It stays in place too while the previous version seemed to slip down over time. I wear it on lots of 2-3 hr mtb rides plus many 6-10 hr moto rides and no problems.

GOOD HEART RATE MONITOR
Light and slim, fits nicely under a bra. No spikes, connected immediately to my Garmin Forerunne 405CX.
However, I had to loosen it up quite a bit and wear it pretty low in order to prevent chaffing. Then again, I have very sensitive skin...

FOR CONCEPT2 ROWING ERGOMETER HR MONITOR
Concept2 use: I started with the Polar HR monitor, and had to keep two (and extra batteries) because one always seemed to be picking up erroneous signals (HR would drop by half or double or sometimes show no change), then changed to Suunto - good day to day use, but a sudden failure left me high and dry. Checked with C2 and they are recommending the Garmin. So far it has performed perfectly - accurate and reliable.

COMFORTABLE, BUT....
Pros: comfort, reliability
I like the feel of this HRM better than the standard one that came with my GPS unit, but for some reason I have a lot more chafing problems with the upgraded HRM. Maybe if I had used more Body Glide from the outset

VERY CONFORTABLE
Pros: thin, light, Cons: none so far
I've different Polar products in the past with 2 different straps : the original (plastic) one and the fabric one.
This one from Garmin is way more confortable than the 2 Polar I used. The closing mechanism is mofe simple than the push-button of the Polar and the band is thinner and longer which make is more confortable to wear fo peaple with large torso

I DON’T EVEN KNOW IT’S THERE
Pros: very non-intrusive Cons: strap not easy to clean
Until the watch can monitor your heart rate on its own, this is an easy and comfortable solution. My sports bra strap fits easily over it and after a minute I forget that there is even something else there. I tried the strap that comes with the Forerunner 405 CX and this one is MUCH more comfortable. As for “sensitivity” I have never had to wet the contacts. In fact, if my watch is charging in a separate room, I hear it beep it’s “heart monitor detected” the second I put it on.

Very good product. However, design makes that the monitor piece could be removed but the strap is one-piece. Not a big issue but would have been simpler to put on and remove.

COMFORTABLE & CONSISTENT
Pros: very comfortable, accurate, never lost connection Cons: none
I bought this to connect to my Garmin Oregon 550T GPS that I use for hiking. The monitor & GPS linked up very quickly, and were accurate.
The Heart Rate Monitor is very comfortable. A lot more comfortable than the monitor that came with my Garmin Forerunner 301. Unfortunately this monitor won't sync with my Forerunner (I knew that before I purchased it). I didn't realize the Garmin 550T does not keep track of your heart rate, it only displays it, so I can't save data for Garmin's Training Center.
If your device is compatible with this monitor I would recommend it.

GREAT HR MONITOR
Pros: small, lightweight, unobtrusive Cons: strap could be a little snug for bigger athletes.
This HRM is a welcome change from the older version with the long plastic strap that went across your chest. The newer design is so light it's hardly noticeable while being worn. The performance is great and seems to be spot on when training.

WORKS AS IT SHOULD
Pros: low-profile, comfortable Cons: none
Back in the day I had an old Polar HRM which had a strap similar to the standard Garmin "hard" strap. I can't say I ever had a problem with that type of strap, but the soft strap is a bit more comfortable to wear and probably worth the extra $10. As for performance, it does what it should. It seems to have transmitted perfectly so far (approx. 8 hours of use).
