IT DIED.
Pros: lightweight, battery life. bright screen. Cons: faulty chipset.
Just over two years old. Never abused, wet,or dropped. Just turned it on one day to go for a walk, waited for it to aquire satellites..and waited...and waited. Never happened. I went to Garmins' support page, updated everything possible, and it fixed nothing.I called customer support, they were polite and informative, and explained to me that the chipset was fried, and there was no fix. He suggested I ship it back to them, and because it was out of warranty, they would send me a refurbished unit for $160.00. Too bad, 'cause I really liked this unit.

GOOD MACHINE, POOR INSTRUCTIONS
Pros: nice display Cons: extremely poor instructions
The basic machine is sort of OK once you get used to it, (and you'll be doing a lot of guessing to get this far), though I actually liked my eTrex better in this regard. It was much more intuitive.
However the BaseCamp software is hopeless. The meagre instructions for how to use the SW are misleading, ambiguous or outright wrong all too often. Typically the software designers have fallen into the same trap that so many SW people do: 1) Assuming the user has almost the same level of knowledge as the pros. i.e. "Beginners? Let 'em struggle". 2) No tutorials for Basecamp beginners. 3) Furthermore there are aspects that simply don't work as stated at all. Waypoints transferred to my machine were unfindable even though the SW said they had transferred successfully from the PC.
Don't waste your time, and if you do take the chance, make sure you can return it if you don't like it. I shall be returning mine and buying from a company other than Garmin. This is a company that has gone feature-crazy and forgotten that every customer was once a beginner.

GREAT UNIT FOR MARINE, OUTDOORS, CAR
Pros: works great, rugged, all-around-use Cons: screen a little small, not fool-proof
With the Topo maps and marine maps, this is the perfect outdoors companion. Very useful in the boat, excellent when off-roading and reasonable in the car and motorcycle. Used on the bicycle and for hiking as well - really versatile.
Batteries used to last a lot until we put them backwards and something bad hapened - the GPS hasn't been the same since...
Sometimes you wish the screen was a little larger, to avoid fidgeting with +/- but then it wouldn't be so small. The 256c would be a better option from that point of view but it's not on batteries so not great for spending a longer time outdoors.

GPSMAP 60CX
Great for back roads atving. In thick brush I have never lost signal combine this with baseCamp software this is a great unit. Nice large screen that can be seen in bright sunlight or in the middle of the night. In our ATV group another member has the 76C, which is larger and very difficult to add waypoints. The 60Cx is the easiest handheld to add and label waypoints. Buy the 60Cx it is worth it.

COMPACT GPS FOR MARINE USE
Pros: resolution, ease of use, durability, price Cons: small screen.
It's my first GPS and from reading other reviews and checking other models I went with the Garmin 60CX. The price at GPS city was the best i've seen for this model in Canada. The ease of navigating the different screens and being able to change the information shown on some screens made customization very easy for me. It also works well with my computer in uploading and downloading maps and waypoints. The ease of use was one of my most important factors in buying this unit.

GREAT GPS FOR ON OR OFF ROAD
Pros: accuracy Cons: base map
This is my fourth Garmin and was purchased primarily for off-road Geocaching. It is very accurate, captures satellites quickly and really does the job. The big downside is that the Base Map is really a big nothing. Other map sets need to be purchased. Bottom line, though is that it is an excellent unit.

RIGID, ACCURATE, I USED IT FOR BIKE TRIPS
Pros: rigid, accurate (compared to etrex), friendly ui Cons: little bulky
I had an eTrex venture before, so this review is written as a comparison. I used both GPS for bike ride. GPSMAP 60 unit is packaged in a rigid case compared to the venture. It its a little bigger, but it worth that. The satellite reception seems to be improved also. I usually navigate using tracks downloaded from other people, and I don't use the vector map feature (actually there are no commercial maps for my location, I use free maps) , it has the same familiar interface as in eTrex + additional feature. the added memory is more then enough (comes with 1 GB card)

GOOD RUGGED GPS
This is my first GPS and I use it mostly on my off-road motorcycle. It has accomplished what I expected of it. It is somewhat of an older design, but it seems to be the best for the job when I see the number of other users of this model!

GOOD OUTDOOR GPS
Pros: readable in direct sunlight garmin support Cons: dated user interface
The user interface seems dated, by comparison with more current models. But, it seems that the touch screen models are too dim to be seen in sunlight, so this one is the way to go. Note that it will only address up to 4GB microSD, but that is plenty (perhaps because it does not display in 3D?. For my paddling, I would have preferred a waterPROOF model, but the 76 is the size of a brick. Garmin's support line is excellent -- willing to take all the time it takes to solve the problem.

GARMIN GPSMAP 60CX
Pros: being able to use with maps.
Very happy with the 60Cx. Even though its not the newest outdoor map capable unit from Garmin, its tried tested and true. Adding City Navigator and or topo maps takes the usefulness of this unit to the next level. Great for canoeing and hiking. GPSCity great to do business with, best price, speedy delivery, prompt service.

COOL TOY!
Pros: easy to figure it out. Cons: none
Has been great for geo-caching and knowing the distance hiked while out caching. Has been great in the car with the City Navigator North America NT I purchased with the GPS. It's also great to have the detailed map for caching. I am not in the least diappointment with my choice of product and purchasing from GPSCity.

GREAT GPS
Pros: easy to learn and use and very accurate
The Garmin GPSMAP 60Cx GPS is a great product. It has lots of features and is very easy to learn and uses. It is great if you have a Geocaching.com account as you can download waypoints directly from the site into the GPS. The color screen and resolution is easy to read and very sharp. I would definitely recommend this GPS for beginners or pros alike.

GREAT UNIT
Bought additional maps for this unit, use it on my motorcycle. Brought it to Europe, worked very well, aside from some minor mapping software glitches. I like the portability, water resistance and compact size. Batteries easily last a full day. Not as user-friendly as an automobile unit, but great nonetheless.

Just received my 60Cx a week ago. GPSCITY was a breeze to buy from and a great price! Took 60Cx out hunting last weekend and loved it. I upgraded from the basic ETREX and found operating 60Cx very similar.Hardly needed to use manual. Tracked all our trails easily. Looks great on laptop with mapsource topomaps. I definetely recomend this unit.
