GARMIN 296 BATTERY
Pros: fits gps unit
Cons: haven't had long enough to evaluate
After two tries with another company, the GPS City battery actually fit my Garmin 296 (aviation) GPS. Service was fast and the battery was a Garmin battery so it fit properly. The batteries from another company would not snap into place at the top due to a slight misfit. When you order, be sure you are getting a Garmin OEM replacement - a lot of the knock-offs won't work.

SECOND TRY - GO WITH GARMIN

Tried an 'off brand' solution to save a few bucks....not a good experience. Pay for the best and only cry once.

Had purchase a battery from another website and their battery did not fit my unit. So I was not sure if the battery listed here would fit a GPSMAP 276C Plus, but their staff was very helpful in researching it for me and making sure it would fit my GPS.

AFFORDABLE, ORIGINAL AND FAST
Pros: original manufacturer and packaging,
Left my old GPS uncharged for a long time and the battery died completely. Price of an original battery at a local GPS store was extensive. Other batteries offered on the Internet may be cheaper but they are not original Garmin products. Placed an order with GPSCity over the weekend, and on Tuesday got the battery at my doorstep. The battery is exactly what I needed and now my Garmin GPSMAP 276C is alive again!

REPLACEMENT BATTERY

My Garmin GPS 276c combo marine and road GPS found its battery not holding a charge after 5 years. I had an upcoming weekend boating trip where the GPS would be a necessity.
No local stores had it, I found gpscity online, placed the order for overnight delivery and presto-- it arrived, was exactly what I needed (fit perfectly)and I was safely on my way.
Thanks for a postive experience and delivering 100% on expectations.

Cons: none
It fits perfect and was received promptly. What more could one ask for? Hint for longer battery life: Don't keep recharging it, let it get to 1/3 to 1/4 charge before you recharge. I keep my old battery in the unit when using the GPS on external power.

We were a bit suss purchasing a supposedly Garmin Battery off the internet, but are thankful that we did. The purchase was exactly what we wanted and with know hassels at all. Runs and charges like the original battery.

We usually run our GPS's from a power source and don't realize we have an issue until we need the battery. Batteries don't seem to last like they should given the fact they are always on charge but having said that maybe that is the issue?

OEM BATTERY FOR GARMIN 276C
Pros: fits well!
Cons: possibly battery life??
I am hoping that Garmin has addressed the previous problems with this battery.
My old one didn't last very long, and I originally did not buy an OEM to replace it. When I got the replacement, however, it didn't fit into the unit as well as the OEM battery. The latch on the aftermarket battery was mis- sized and the battery would fall off.
So I decided to return to GPS City to buy a Garmin OEM unit as I have bought here before and the experience had been very good. Here we are...
The new battery seems to be working great! Only time will tell if it can hold a charge though!

NEW ONE WORSE THAN OLD ONE

Cons: performs old
New one worked at 100% for two months. Now it won't charge more than a half charge. This is WORSE than the old battery I threw out! Garbage!!!
Is this some ancient old stock that fails from being on the shelf too long before I bought it?

REPLACING PREMATURELY FAILING GARMIN BATTERY
Pros: oem quality - no compatibility issues
Cons: expect same poor oem quality with repl. as orig.
The battery sold at gpscity is exactly as advertised and comes directly from Garmin. I am very disappointed in Garmin batteries. The original battery (identical to this one) lasted only 2 years. Consider the operating cost of your Garmin to include $30 per year for battery replacement assuming 2yr lifespan.

SPARE BATTERY
Pros: extra reassurance
Cons: expensive
The original battery seemed to be very poor at holding a charge. I purchased the second battery to see if there was something wrong with the original. Fortunately, the second battery works fine and for some reason the original battery has performed better also.

Buy today and get the next, Super service. Told friend about GPSCITY and placed and order at 1pm and the next morning by 9 am he got his order. He called me and said what super service and thanked me for telling him about GPSCity

BATTERY CAN BE FIXED

The battery for my Garmin 276C just died after 2yrs. I'm not very happy with its short life however I'm more upset with the fact that I can't find anyone that has replacements in stock. I contacted Garmin and they basically said I would just have to wait.

Battery failed to last more then 2 years. Within 18 months the battery fails to hold a charge. The GPS unit fails to recognize that there is a battery in place - indicates "battery missing". Not very happy with short life and no way to revive it.

My battery just died. I bought the Garmin GPSmap 276 back in June of 2004. Exactly 2 years of battery life. I use it regularly in the summer, and in 1 week during the winter. ( Florida trip)
Overall, I cant complain.
