AWESOME HEART RATE MONITOR

Pros: extremely customizable, uses ant+ standard
Cons: strap only works with ant+, ie not gym equipment

Has all the features I really want (per second recording, gps data, ...). I also bought the footpod to get distances on the treadmill (winter is coming) and also cadence. Tons of features and extremely customizable. Automatically updates the data to garmin connect when in range of the computer. Have not experienced any issues so far with product (some have reported issues with 'reverse charging' but I have not run into it). Extremely fast (and cheap) shipping. Would recommend gpscity to others. Was worried about the size, its not as bad as I thought it would be (its a little thick, but the overall size is ok on my wrists. I don't usually wear a watch and only wear this while training). Cons are that the strap is ANT+ only, which means it only work on gym equipment which is ANT+ enabled (which is almost none). Since it's ANT+, it will work with any ANT+ strap, so potentially someone else could come up with a dual mode ANT+ and analogue strap which would work for both. Another con is that it doesn't support linux so I have to run an old computer with windows to get the data off of it (I don't have to do anything with the old machine, it automatically updates wirelessly). But I knew if didn't support linux when I bought it.

FORERUNNER 610

Pros: touch screen, style and battery life

Its an excellant running watch, easy to use and the touch screen operation while running is smooth, although the option to automatic scroll through the options you've picked to monitor works great as well.

MY FAVORITE WATCH

Pros: small size
Cons: battery doesn't last that long & price

This watch will improve your training. Whether you are a beginner or advanced runner the 610 will aid in improving your fitness. My favorite feature is you can race against your previous runs. You might think it will average the entire run but it doesn't. That won't work if you have hills in your course.

CHARGING PROBLEMS

Charged fine the first time. Used it once, no problem. Left it on charger , next day it says low battery. Did reset now when on charger it indicates it is discharging from 70 to 50 etc. Read on another site some body is haveing same problem. Stay away till they fix this problem..

INTUITIVE MENUS, EASY TO USE ON THE RUN

Pros: touch screen, heart rate monitor, garmin connect
Cons: slow to sync satellites

This is my first serious training toy.

Combining heart rate monitor and GPS you can record, replay and analyse your exercise sessions to achieve maximum results.

The set-up was simple. I set most of it up using the on- screen menus. I then downloaded the software from the Garmin website (I use Mac OSX) and worked through the more detailed stuff.

Setting out on my first run was easy. The watch beeped to tell me that the HRM was operational and then went searching for satellites. Soon I was off and running. When I got home, the watch wirelessly transferred the data to my computer and I was able to review the details using Garmin Connect. Brilliant.

Things that I am getting used to: (1) the touch screen - unlike an an iPhone, you get through most things with a tap, rather than a swipe (2) unlocking the screen - you would think it were simple, but takes me a few goes (3) locating satellites - takes ages, my other Garmin products seem to memorise the last position (4) it considers 1 mile to be a lap, which is kinda cool, but when you do everything in metric, it's annoying (5) using indoors - when it is in search for satellites mode you can't see anything on the screen except the satellite bars, so if using indoors you just gotta make sure your press the using indoors when you first get started on a session.

Great watch, easy to operate, I love the touch screen. Much more comfortable than my forerunner 410 I had before. Very accurate, endless training possibilities, wear it all the time.

GREAT WATCH!

Pros: quick satellite fix, can wear to work!
Cons: cost, but it works as advertised!

I moved up from a Forerunner 305, that I had for 5 years. This is the first Garmin I've owned that I can use as an every day watch too. Satellite fix is under 20 seconds. Touch screen is OK, not as great as I thought it would be, but still getting used to it. The Training Effect is just a value from 1 to 5 that the watch gives you for your effect on a run (I thought there would be more than that, the way Garmin was hyping the training effect.) The premium heart strap is lighter than the regular strap. I think if you can justify the cost, it is worth the purchase, but for the budget runner, I would steer you towards the FR305.

All in all, I am very happy with the purchase.
