GREAT WATCH!
Pros: looks good. easy to use after a while. the gps Cons: battery life, bezel a bit useless
The watch looks good, I can wear it outside a jogging session. The bezel is more a gadget than anything else, takes a short while to get use to it. I like the fact that I don't have to plug the watch in after a run to transfer my running session's datas. With the ANT + stick, it does it automatically for you. The watch comes with two extra bracelets, which is useful in summer (the metal clasp give me rashes) I run about 3-4 times a week in sub-zero and hot weather, never had any problem with the watch. Outside intervals, I don't need to use the bezel during my run, I put the datas I want (like, time, pace, total distance) on two or three different screens, let them run and lock the bezel. So I can't really comment on the performance of the bezel under "x" conditions or weather. The watch will record all the data a running geek could possibly think about or will ever use. As for the gps, it catches the signal promptly, below one minute each time I had to use it (except for the 1st and 2nd time). Besides when running in a tunnel, I never lost the signal. Even when running under trees or besides tall buildings. The Garmin website is a bit basic but other softwares will let you downloads all your Garmin datas with better interface and more friendly user. . As for the battery, the 8 hours advertised is a it exagerated. So far, I can run about 6-6 1/2 hours without having to recharge it. The 2 weeks watch mode only is more like 10-12 days. Still, overall, great watch, I love it and will probably go for another Garmin watch after this one.

FORERUNNER 410 FOR RUNNING
This has been an excellent watch for running. I have run in the rain with and it has performed well. I like the ability of it to automatically count the distances that I set as I run Half Marathons. I have uploaded my runs using Garmin Connect and that has worked well also.

FORERUNNER 410
Pros: many functions built into a little watch Cons: menu system requires a significant time to learn
Accurate, very functional watch for training in running and biking. I like the many functions that I have used so far such as lap counting and recording and uploading the data to the Garmin Connect website and exporting them from there to KML files. I have marked points to

EXCELLENT FOR A FIRST FITNESS WATCH
Pros: ease of use, available functions Cons: battery problems
The watch itself is very good, all the functions are useful and the integration with connect.garmin.com is easier than I expected. I enjoy a lot being able to map my run without having to wear an additional accessory. Sharing the information with friends is a nice touch also. This is my first fitness watch and being able to really view the results of my training is very nice. This is like a game to me :)
On the other hand, I am unfortunately experiencing two problems with the watch: 1) battery longevity: this seems to be a known and recurring problem with Garmin watches. The watch went from >50% charge to none in a matter of minutes even though it should last for 8hrs of training overall. I went on Garmin's forum and following some instructions, I did reset the watch's software which seems to have a problem checking the battery status correctly. It's working so far but I am still on the first charge after doing that procedure.
2) tones: I am not old enough to wear hearing aids but I can't hear the tones alerting me when I complete a repetition in an interval run. Actually, the sound starts loud when I set the watch before a training but it progressively turns down. There are not volume setup so I am a bit worried about this one. It might be related to the battery issue too. I haven't finish investigating this one though, it might just be m
I still have to contact Garmin support for those issues and I am not to worried they can be solved effectively.

BETTER THAN POLAR
Pros: gps, web based interface and tracking, versatility Cons: battery life on gps, secondary display
I had a Polar with Cadence sensor previously (can't remember the model number). Constantly seemed to have problems connecting with the watch. With the 410 not only does the cadence sensor work, it is backed up with GPS, and it also works indoors on exercise equipment. Add to that the heart rate monitor is more comfortable. The selection bezel takes a bit of practice getting used to, but once mastered in combination with the push buttons is fine. However, I have not been able to get it to work well while wearing gloves. You will need to recharge the battery every other day if you use GPS all the time. Without GPS and working out for an hour or so every day, it lasts pretty much the whole week. Secondary displays are really too small to read especially when running. But there are three display screens possible and it is relatively easy to change betwee screens.
