Great little GPS. Satellite reception way better than my old Legend. 24 meg memory a bit tight for CitySelect x-country but loads for BlueChart.

Review: I don't own this unit - I own a Vista. I was interested, til I found out (and had confirmed by Garmin) that this unit won't output NMEA. That means if you want to connect it to a laptop you must use Garmin mapping software.

I bought this thinking it has NMEA support since the non-color version of it does. You would think just because they added a color screen, it would have the same features. This limits what I can do with this unit. Luckily I still have my old emap GPS that supports NMEA. I'm really surprised at Garmin, they blew it on this one. Go for the regular Garmin Legend. The Color version is basically useless as a GPS unless you only use Garmin products.

The vista C is great for portabilty and durability, the memory is a bit small for topo maps, but just fine for street maps, locally. I like the colour screen and would recommend a larger memory if you can afford the upgrade like the 60 series. The battery life is good, about 12 hours, with some back light usage. I am currently looking at the 76 series, memory and external antennia capability with a slightly larger screen being the drawing cards.

I bought this unit and the topo mapping software that goes with it and was very disappointed with the maps. NOT topo quality at all. OK for streets in the city but when you get off-the-road you'd be better off with AAA maps! The company said the maps of the National Parks are better but I don't off-road in National Parks.
