Good mount...with the Vista HCx, use the oriiginal back and adapter that came with the Garmin gps. Makes the Vista a very useful bike unit for mileage, speed, time, etc, while it also can be used for walking, running, hiking (suggest a belt clip for these uses).

MODIFY OF THIS MOUNT FOR CX BEFORE YOU TOSS IT
Pros: easy to install on bike, cheap, comes with padding Cons: modify to fit, vibration concerns, loose fit fixed
I was able to round oput the micro card section of the battery cover provided with this kit. Using the 7 volt dremel tool the plastic was easily removed to accomodate for the card section. Just be sure to have the original Cx cover nearby for visual reference, and remove small sections of the plastic at a time. Then just see if it fits. If no keep taking more out. I modified mine in about ten minutes.
After getting it to fit, I mounted this to my Kawa Versys. The mount was loose, and was sure to vibrate like hell and be useless in motion. I used some sticky back foam of about 5mm thick and placed it at the bottom of the mount battery cover I just modified. This provided enough leverage when inserted into the mount to keep the unit tightly bound to the clip.
My only concern now is the amount of vibration getting to the unit. When riding I barely notice vibration at the end of the handlebar. The unit is mounted at the left side just short of the clutch mount. When I touch the unit, I can feel more vibration by holding the unit. Does anyone know how much vibration these units will withstand?

WORKS AS ADVERTISED!
Pros: solid, compatible, simple to use, secure, official Cons: expensive for a piece of plastic? no rubber grip
There's not much to review about this product, but I'll have a go at it anyway. The kit comes in two parts: one battery cover for your Garmin eTrex GPS and one handlebar mount with rubber spacers.
The replacement battery cover has an O-ring seal around it to prevent water damage in the battery compartment. However, unlike the original cover, this one doesn't have a rubbery grip on it. It's just plain plastic. The piece that clips onto the mount is part of the cover itself. You won't have to use the accessory that Garmin includes with the eTrex (probably just newer eTrex units).
The handlebar mount is made of solid plastic. Once tightened, it feels very secure. I'm not afraid that my GPS is going to fly off or anything, that thing is there to stay. The GPS unit clips on and off very easily. Just don't install this on a motorcycle. That's a recipe for disaster.
Overall, I give the eTrex handlebar mount a perfect score. Why? Well, because it does what it's supposed to and it does it well. It's an official Garmin product, so you know it's quality. One black spot is the price: when you consider that the back cover and the mount are essentially two slabs of plastic that probably cost next to nothing to produce, the price is hard to swallow (this is not a criticism against GPScity.ca but rather Garmin for pricing their accessories higher than they should be).
GPScity did a fantastic job delivering this item to me at the lowest price and on time. If you're reading this review and you've never bought from GPScity, you can put your doubts to rest, they are the real thing. Tell them The Dude sent you.

EXCELLENT BICYCLE MOUNT FOR GARMIN ETREX GPS
I bought this bicycle mount for my Garmin eTrex Legend (the blue one) to mount of the handlebars of my mountain bike.
It comes with two different size rubber inserts and is very very rugged, well built, and stays put.
The battery back cover fits just like it should, just like the original one that came with the eTrex. The cover slides down into the handlebar mount and snaps into place. If/when you want to remove your GPS, just press the little tab on the top back section of the slide it back out.
I have gone on some pretty nasty mountain bike trails with my Garmin eTrex Legend mounted on this handlebar mount, and never had a problem. It stays put and doesn't move around, shift, shake, or shimmy.
The only thing I would caution about, is that some places mention that you can use this handlebar mount for a motorcycle. I own a Honda Shadow motorcycle, and NO WAY would I want to do something like that! Sure, it's rugged and well built, but the unit wouldn't stand up to the wind turbulance at 75 mph on the interstate! A bicycle only goes about 30 mph (unless you're Lance Armstrong), so when it says Garmin eTrex Bike Mount, they mean BICYCLE...

VERY GOOD MOUNT, POOR INSTRUCTIONS
Pros: does exactly what it is supposed to do. Cons: needs instructions that cover the legend hcx.
I bought the bike mount so I could use my Legend HCx on my bicycle. The mount works very well, but the instructions are confusing. The mount package includes a replacement back cover for the GPS. However, that cover did not fit. Eventually, I found out that the replacement cover isn't for the Legend HCx. What you are supposed to use instead is the "auxiliary mount adapter" that Garmin includes with the HCx. Garmin needs to update their instruction sheet.

WORKS FOR ME
Pros: stable
I put the mount on my Schwinn. I don't do heavy trail riding, but for my purposes the mount works perfectly. Feels very stable. I feel like I can push the buttons on the eTrex without it snapping off.

WORKS AS EXPECTED
Pros: mount options Cons: none
Fits my Garmin eTrex HS fine. Still has water resistant properties and didn't need to do any fancy jerry-rigging. I actual just leave mount door on my unit when not using on bike. The handle bar mount works fine on my MTB as well as other tubular surfaces. I've giving some pretty rough terrain riding, and it's held up fine. Nothing has broke yet.

BEST MOUNT
Pros: easy to attach gps
Highly recommend this mount for quads, very easy to install and has lots of adjustment for angles, once installed, it is very tight and does not move. Very easy to install GPS on to the mount. However do make sure a safety strap is attached to GPS and some other secure part of quad/bike.

I think I have the answer. Take a 1/8th-inch rubber band and positioned it over the upper or widest edge of the battery cover then replace it. Then with the rest of the band you can either trim it off either side, or position it around the rest of the edge of the cover like I did, looks like it will act as a second seal to the battery compartment. It worked for me.

IT DOES FIT THE CX
I've seen some reviewer complaining that the mount does not fit the Cx. Well, the plastic cover supplied with the mount does not fit the Cx, but you don't need it. I purchased my Cx a year ago and the GPS came with the exact same multi function bracket that is on the plastic one. It was in the box, with the cables. Just put it on the GPS using the supplied screw in the hole over the case lock. This is the cheapest and most simple gps bracket on the market. Who need adjustable type like ram mount sells for 60$? I'm completely satisfied with this one. (mount on Honda Shadow 2004)

BAD DESIGN FOR CX MODELS
for cx models this mount suxxors... back-clip-mount. clip can loosen from the back, won't fall off completely, but it will be loose and wobbly. it's not that hard to make a cutout for the memory card slot, come on garmin (or somebody)- do it!

I also have the eTrex Legend Cx and I use the Battery compartment cover that was supplied with my GPS along with the Auxiliary Mount adapter. I did not use the one supplied with the mount, as stated earlier it does not fit the Cx version. There is a picture of it on page 1 of the owner's manual. I hope this answers your question/statement The and Coach.

If you're looking for a handlebar mount kit for your Garmin Legend C, Vista C, Legend Cx, Vista Cx, Venture Cx, you need this model no: 010-102-04-00. Sells for about $7.95 CAD. It comes with the handlebar mount and a clip that screws in the back of your unit. You don't have to replace the battery cover like in the kit no: 010-10267-00 as it doesn't fit the above Garmin models.
Cheers

I bought the handlebar mount kit (Part no: 010-1-267-00) recently and to realize that it wouldn't fit mi eTrex Vista CX because of the memory card slot at the back.
When you remove the actual rubbery battery cover to replace it with the plastic battery cover from the handlebar kit, it won't match the back end of the eTrex Vista CX.
Any idea, suggestion? Is there an actual handlebar moutn kit specifically for the Vista CX?
Thanks
J.

I have one of these handlebar mounts, and I have taken it apart (pushed the pivot-pin out, as I use only the top portion) so that it will now fit lengthwise on both my mountain bike stem and road bike top-tube. (I drilled holes THROUGH the unit on the front and back ends, and was able to run tie-wraps through the mount-piece and secure it to my stem/tube on a piece of rubber for vibration-isolation and no-slip.) It's VERY stable this way (much more-so than if mounted on a handlebar) and it works GREAT on both bikes! Now I just need to buy another one so I don't have to move it bike to bike! I have never had any problems with it mounted this way, and my Vista-C just works great and is a BLAST to have with me on the bikes! (It's been over a year now, and I NEVER get lost anymore! ALSO, now I can repeat ANY ride I've done, no matter how complex the route!)
