Transform your compatible nuvi into a real-time diagnostic computer with ecoRoute hd. This easy-to-install device not only provides fuel and mileage reports, but you get more accurate fuel consumption/conservation data by tapping into your vehicle's diagnostic system. Calculate your carbon footprint, engine performance and more all through your nuvi.
Save Gas...and a Trip to the Mechanic
With ecoRoute hd, you not only save fuel, but the vehicle diagnosing capabilities could also save a trip to the mechanic. After completing a simple setup, you can use your nuvi to run diagnostic testing on vehicle systems, such as the battery and drive train, and you can monitor engine data, including temperature and emissions. You'll also receive diagnostic trouble codes and be able to reset your check engine light.
Stay informed
Use this cable to connect your Bluetooth-enabled nuvi 1xxx directly to your car's On Board Diagnostic (OBD) system. You can display data about your fuel economy and current engine performance, as well as decode and display critical engine trouble codes. Know what's going on under your hood at a fraction of the cost of aftermarket gauges and expensive mechanics.
Total installation time is under 5 minutes; just plug the cable into the OBD port in your car (usually located by your steering wheel) and pair it one time with your nuvi 1xxx-series device.

COOL GADGET - BUT A BIT PRICEY
All in all does what was advertised. Was a little disappointed that more data fields were not available. Installation was very easy. Integration with EcoRoute how to determine since my 1490T seems to have been buggy (if I drive faster than 80km/h gave me a score of 0, no matter if I was on a highway) and ended up dying. It has been sent back for repair.
Pros: easy installation. delivers as promised
Cons: bit pricey for what you get.
Recommend: YES

NIFTY GARMIN GADGET
It is possible to put the MPG on the map page, in the lower left corner of the screen. Measures gas mileage and calculates MPG and fuel costs.
I wish I could program the data fields on the Nvui as I can on my eTrex, I don't see why they don't let me do that. I would like to be able to put ANY values that it can read onto the map screen, for example intake air temp.
I wish that it calculated estimated range remaining, it does not do that. I like the fact that it logs data while your nuvi is shut off- though mine never is.
I am using it in a Toyota Yaris with a Garmin 1390T.
Overall the device works better than I expected once I got used to the controls.
Pros: nothing else out there like it.
Cons: it costs too much. $75-80 would be reasonable
Recommend: YES

GOOD

GOOD CONCEPT, BAD SOFTWARE ??

Pros: great/accurate data when it works
Cons: freezes up the nuvi 1390t within 24 hours.
Recommend: NO
