JUST RIGHT
Pros: touch scree, size, waypoints. Cons: awkward case that doesn't fit phone cradles very w
The Dakota screen is small, but still able to contain the amount of information with in it. The detail of the trails or streets meets the needs.

HWY 7 TRAILS
Pros: size Cons: garmin charges way too much for maps.
1st trail GPS device. Easy to use. Responsive. Touch screen is nice - good clarity. Bigger screen would be nice, but those devices are considerably more.

DAKOTA IS THE KING FOR CACHERS!
Pros: name it! Cons: none!
Having owned a Garmin product before, I felt certain that this would be good. I have not been disappointed in any way. Works great for hiding or finding geocaches and the coordinates are most always spot on. Works well even in thick tree cover as well.
The chirp unit was very easy to program and is now an active part of one of my trickier caches.
I highly recommend both of the units to everyone!

GREAT FOR THE TRAIL OR GEOCACHING
Pros: touch screen, menu navigation, size, battery life Cons: glare on screen
This is my first handheld unit so my experience is limited. I wanted a touch screen capability and the Dakota deliverys in this area. The navigation is quick and intuitive and I really like the ability to change user profiles--mostly between Geocaching and trail. I have added a free topo download from Internet and it adds to the map detail. When I purchased, the Dakota 20 w/chirp was actually $35 cheaper than the GPS unit by itself..go figure.

GREAT COMBO
Pros: great value, good way to try out chirp Cons: none
Bought this combo as my first non-phone based GPSr. Outstanding price on two outstanding products. This combo was over $30.00 cheaper than the Dakota 20 by itself. The chirp was just icing on the cake.

DECENT!
Pros: compact Cons: navigating menus not intuitive.
Just received the Dakota 20 for Christmas. Unfortunately, I have never owned a GPS before, so none of my comments can be taken as relative to other units.
I do like it. Seems to work well, screen is easy to read and view, and does everything I need it to do, so far, which is pretty minimal. Geocaching and Tracks.
However, what I would say is that negotiating screens to do what you want is sometimes non-intuitive:
Tracks for example, it seems like to set parameters, record and save tracks requires not only use of the "Track Manager", which is a main menu button, but also going into "Settings" and then into "Tracks". Seems a bit silly. All track options and features should be within the Track Manager, or at least in my opinion anyway.
Geocaching. That, and creating tracks is so far all I have really done with the Dakota 20 so far. Getting to the map view within geocaching seems a bit more of a challenge than it should be. For example, if you are "Go"ing to a cache, if you want to backup and review the description, then go back to the map, you have to go through a couple of screens to get back to the maps.
All in all, it's a good unit, and the stuff I mention above is not really a big deal at all once you get used to it. Coming from someone who has never owned or used a GPS before, it did seem a bit counter-intuitive. Certainly not enough to make me want a different unit!
The Chirp. Haven't even tried it yet, but will soon. It is not really what I thought it was, so I should have just bought the Dakota 20 without the Chirp and saved $20. That was my fault - just didn't do enough reading.
