NO MORE GUESSING.
I am very happy and enjoy knowing the distance to the hole without having to look for markers on the course. The Garmin Approch is very accurate and user friendly.

GARMIN GPS GOLF WATCH
Pros: accurate, easy to read, always on your wrist Cons: charging system should be mini usb, battery life
Took it Florida for our annual Golf trip. The watch did exactly what it claimed to do. I like it a lot and I will be using it everytime I golf. It's easy to use, and I carried a copy of the instructions in my golf bag. The numbers are clear and very visible, even on sunny days. The major drawback that I see is that the battery life could be longer, although I did get 2 rounds out of it per day likely because it's new. The charging system is rediculous given that there are mini USB plugs in use on many small electronic devices. Thumbs down to Garmin on the charging system, nonetheless, I like it, and would recommend it to others. Already recommended it to my golfing buddies, who constantly kept on asking "how far is it" . Great idea by Garmin, if you are an avid golfer, you'll like this product regardless of the charging system.

GOLF WATCH
Cons: not every course in ontario.
The watch has met and/or exceeded all expectations I had before trying it. Easy to operate, light and accurate. I had a problem with the version of software but I called Garmin and they walked me through the upgrade.

VERY HANDY GOLF GPS
Pros: accurate, most courses included, ease of use Cons: valley landing, courtland, al is not included
I've enjoyed using garmin approach s1 more than any other golf gps I have experience with. I've played 6 or 7 rounds with it & it's so nice to always have the key distances available at a glimpse & they seem to be accurate to a yard or so compared to course markers & friend's gps's. Only problem I've had is that one course we play occasionally is not included (valley Landing in Courtland, AL).

GLAD I BOUGHT IT!
Pros: easy to use. Cons: only gives front/middle/back yardages.
I am only using this for golf, and it works great. Charging is no problem, and you can turn it off after you charge it so that it is ready to go when you next play. I've only played a couple of rounds with it so far, and I have minor concerns that it might sometimes be off by about 5 yards (compared to course markers, which could also be off). At my level (12 handicap), that's usually close enough though. It is very easy to use, and has every course I've looked for in several states - including both public & private. The Measure Shot & Odometer features are nice & work well, too. Mostly, I just love that it is small & always on my wrist - no messing around with anything that you have to carry, clip on, set down, etc. I strongly recommend it, especially for ~$200 (vice $250).

EXCELLENT GPS
Pros: light weight unobtrusive, free course upgrades Cons: doesnt display hazard distances
Exactly what I was looking for, accurately tells me distances that I need front/center/back without the bulk of attaching something to my hip, or on the bag. If you are a sharp-shooter low handicap striker playing unfamiliar tracks then this may not be for you as it doesn't tell you trap/water etc carry/lay-up distances. I am a 15 handicap and this is just awesome for me because it takes the guess out of often poorly marked fairway yardages. I have used it at three different courses so far and checked the yardage against course markers, it has been very accurate and a joy to use.

HANDY!
Pros: accurate, convenient, easy to read in sunlight Cons: none, does what it claims
Not a fancy golf GPS, no course maps, no distances to hazards, but if you want simple and quick to use, easy to read outdoors in sunlight without your glasses and accurate, this is your guy. This is my third Garmin product, also a Street Pilot, and briefly the Approach S3. Garmins work, they support their product, and it's a no-brainer. This watch updates distance to the green as you move, measures shot distance, and has an odometer that works on or off the course. At one point, I was crossing a 200-yard marker in the ground, and looked at the watch, and the middle distance showed 200. I like the fancy GPSs with the course maps, and score-keeping features, but I do not see well enough to use them without putting on my reading glasses, and my playing partners will not wait that long! So this watch always tells me which club I need (after you find your average club distances) and my partners were constantly asking me "How far?" I wish they would get their own S1.

BEST GOLF GPS
Pros: simple to use, accurate, convenient, lightweight Cons: some accuracy loss but accurate enough for my game
I bought 3 of the new Garmin Approach S1: For Me, my brother and my Father, all avid golfers. The Approach S 1 is a fantastic golf aid.Much easier and more convenient than the traditional golf GPS that you have to keep in your bag or cartHaving it on your wrist means all you have to do is glance down at your GPS watch to get distance from anywhere on the course to Green, plus hole #, Par, distance of each shot, and even total distance walked if you walk instead of ride.Very simple to operate and use, I highly recommend it. I wouldn't golf without it now that I have one!

NOT VERY ACCURATE
Pros: great battery life, very light Cons: not very accurate
I'm returning this Garmin Approach S1. I have used it on three different courses and it is not very accurate. I have tested it on course with a Callaway uPro and a Sky Caddie while standing on course yardage markers. The uPro and Sky Caddie were right on (and generally within 1 yard of the course yardage marker) while the Garmin was often up to 15 yards off. I love the form factor and all that but I can't use it if it's off by that much.

BEST GOLF GPS WATCH
Pros: very handy and no annual fees Cons: a charge is good for approximately 1 round
I had been using a SkyCaddie for a few years which is an excellent Golf GPS. However, the Approach S1 is much more practical. I don't have to go to my bag or cart to check the distances every time. It is on my wrist and easy to read even in the sun. The fonts are of a good size.

GREAT PRODUCT
This unit works very well. I particularly like the hands free aspect of the Approach S1. I wish it had better Canadian coverage of the courses. There are three great golf destination areas of British Columbia that are not covered, Kamloops/Thompson, Okanagan, and the Kootenays. Vancouver Island coverage is also quite limited. Fortunately, I do most of my golfing in and around Vancouver and Northwest Washington.

BEST GOLF GPS
Pros: you don't carry it you wear it like a watch Cons: what cons there isn't any
A freind of mine had one of these gps golf watches and I was amazed at the accurracy it showed from the tee to the green or on the fairway to the green.I had to have one. Its help me with club selection and has improved my game. I would highly recommend this product to everyone beginners to pros. Its so easy to use, and the price you can't beat. I've look at alot more expensive one and this one is completely equal to them, and there is no monthly or yearly contract to worry about. It also has all the golf coarse I golf programed in it and a lot lot lot more.

S1 APPROACH
Pros: excellent product - has all canadian courses too! Cons: need to charge before each round.
Neat, light and finds courses fast. Switches to the time with one click and keeps where you are on the course at the same time. I compared the yardages to a handheld Garmin (SG8) I've used for 2 years - and they were exactly the same. I also got 2 consecutive rounds out if one charge.

GARMIN APPROACH S1 (GPS GOLF WATCH)
Pros: very easy to use and attractive looking watch. Cons: might be a design issue as moisture under lens
I love the watch. Very easy to use. Turn it on and it picks up the golf course (I checked online to make sure my home course was already in the system) you're playing and the hole you're on. You can mark the spot you hit from to figure out how far you hit the ball (also useful if you know how far you hit the ball but ended up in the rough or trees so you know approximately where to look). I did have a problem with my first watch where moisture/condensation collected under the lens in cold conditions (Ontario, Canada). I had never submerged it in water or gotten it wet. Not sure if moisture gets in through the back seal or if it was manufactured in a humid climate but obviously this should not occur. I was told to return it by Garmin to GPS City which I did and it was replaced at no additional cost to me except for the return shipping cost. I haven't played golf with the new watch as it's winter up here.
