NO HOLE AMATEUR RADIO MOUNT

The problem... an easily removable radio/mount requiring no drilling of the car and allowing for full fore/aft passenger seat adjustment... in a small car with bucket seats, not much real estate on the dash, a five speed and a very distinct hump/console between the driver and front passenger. (Sorry... the car needs a good cleaning...)

I got a strip of 1/8 x 2 inch steel from Rona. A seven (or thereabouts) inch section of it was bent (FBH and vise) and drilled at one end to fit under the seat mounting bolt. The hole was drilled a little oversize to allow for some flexibility in positioning and to correct inaccuracies in the TLAR measurement system.

The other end of the bracket was drilled to accept the Ram ball mount, the bracket and ball bolted together and the whole mess attached under the seat mounting bolt...the bracket is not quite straight to allow it to clear the "hump" (not readily apparent in the photo) between the driver and front seat passenger.

With that done the arm was attached, below...shown in the "stowed" position which allows the seat to slide forward. The arm will rotate 45 degrees further back to lie almost completely under the front of the seat (shown in full rearward position where my 6' 3" son likes it....)

And now, with radio's own mounting bracket attached to the Ram bracket and ball....the one disappointing issue is the only set of holes that would line up on both brackets results in the Ram bracket not being in the centre of the radio's bracket...

I may drill the bracket to fix this or perhaps get a ball mount like the one attached to the floor.... which should work to centre the radio on the arm. I may also get a short arm to extend the reach of the existing arm and give a little more movement/positioning options...

Another option might be to flip the Ram bracket 180 degrees and use the section that sticks out to mount the microphone clip...seen in the photos and taped into place to test for geometry and fit....

(For the curious out there... an FBH is a "Freakin Big Hammer" and TLAR measurement is "That Looks About Right"
