I've been a Garmin user since the first 45's came out years ago.I think that I have 6 of them as it was easier to buy a new one when the waypoints were full as they held all my waypoints, routes and nav stuff for the boat when cruising on the west coast from Victoria B.C. to Skagway AK. I have 2-12XL's which are still the greatest and a couple 12cx's which didn't impress me. However, all that is old tech. I am pretty pleased with the Zumo550 on my Harley these past 2 years. I wouldn't be without it for sure.

I ride 6 months in the Southwest US, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Nevada and California and the occasional jaunt down into Baja. Then when my time is up down south, I ride three months of the summer in Western Canada, Yukon and Alaska which amounts to between 30,000 and 45,000 KMS a year and the Zumo550 is working the whole time.

I am sold on the Zumo 550. With it's glove friendly and large interface, menu choices and with additional POI's installed, routes are interesting and off the beaten track. I still use the 12xl on the Harley as it is a great companion to the Zumo550 for sunrise/sunset and crumb trail backtracking. I ride alone and it's easy to get off the beaten track having too much fun. I've yet to run out of fuel as the search will usually provide something within a reasonable distance and the ethnic restaurants that it takes me to are delightful. I usually plan my trip on the laptop and download, that way I have a fairly predictable route without too many surprises, but sometimes just for a dawn to dusk ride in new territory, I'll punch in a place I've never been to and see where and how it takes me there. That's the true spirit of Mysterycruising. No destination most of the time and an adventure each days riding. The Zumo550 is the best Nav Aid one could put on their scooter for sure. Thanks Garmin.
