Industry Canada released a statement in June 2009 saying that by 2014 products with a wattage output of higher than 2 watts will be permitted in Canada. A long time coming, this will allow users to transmit radio frequencies over longer distances.
The Garmin RINO series was always available to Canadians, but was limited to a 2 watt version. With the ban being lifted, the 5 watt version that was reserved for US use only will be sold and used legally in Canada.
