This morning, Garmin announced a new addition to their Forerunner sports watch line. An upgrade to the previous 310XT model, the Forerunner 910XT watch is a metric focused training tool for swimmers, runners, and cyclists.
Long known for their dedicated devices for runners and cyclists, the Forerunner 910XT is more versatile than previous units because of its enhancements for swimmers. Designed to work in both swimming pools and open water up to 50 meters, the GPS-enabled watch records important swimming data like distance, efficiency, stroke type, count, and pool lengths.
There are also added benefits for runners and cyclists. Along with tracking time, distance, pace, and speed, the 910XT now offers an elevation tracker using the watch's barometric altimeter. The addition of an elevation tracker helps runners and cyclists prepare for races of varying altitudes while monitoring their bodies' reaction.
Ideal for triathletes, the 910XT will work during all three segments of a triathlon, tracking seamlessly from the water to the road. Additionally, the watch's display uses bold, easy-to-read numbers that can be read in a quick glance. Post-race, triathletes can share their race data wirelessly to their home computer.
Two versions of the multi-sport Forerunner are expected for release at the end of the fourth quarter: the 910XT and the 910XT with heart rate monitor. Even though the heart rate monitor can be worn in water, users will not be able to track heart rate data while it is submerged. Therefore, the heart rate monitor is more beneficial to runners and cyclists. The Forerunner 910XT comes boxed with the USB ANT stick, charging clip, expander strap, AC adaptor, and product manuals. |
