Back in June, Dual Universal announced a new product, the XGPS150 Universal Bluetooth GPS Receiver. The XGPS150 allows users to add wireless GPS to their mobile devices. Some compatible mobile devices include Apple iPod touch, Apple iPad, Apple iPad 2, Apple iPhone, bluetooth-enabled smartphones and bluetooth-enabled tablets and laptops.
A quick setup process connects a compatible device with the XGPS150 receiver. After setup, the receiver will automatically connect to the last device it was paired with, allowing users to access location-based apps. The XGPS150 can be used for car navigation, golfing, geocaching, marine navigation, finding what's nearby, hiking, GPS tracking, social networking and fitness activities like running and cycling.
The XGPS150 comes with the Bluetooth GPS Status Tool app which is free from the iTunes store. The utility app provides detailed information including current location, signal strength, the number of satellites the device sees, the battery level, if the XGPS150 is charging and if it is connected to a device. Additional apps that can be used with the XGPS150 are listed here. This list is not complete because there are hundreds of compatible apps within the App Store with more apps continuously being released.
The XGPS150 GPS Receiver comes with a 12V car charger, non-slip pad to use in a car or boat and an adjustable strap to attach to a backpack or to use as an armband. |
