Over the past few years, Garmin has begun releasing provincial lake
coverage for Canada. Until recently, only the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan,
Ontario and the territory of Yukon were available. However, Garmin's latest addition covers the lakes of Nova Scotia. Also, the company announced an updated version for Saskatchewan. Inland lakes coverage includes bodies of water as small as a city reservoir or as large as thousands of square kilometres.
Outdoorsmen and adventurers are excited about the ability to access detailed lake coverage on their Garmin handhelds and marine devices. When users want to find depth information, they no longer have to upgrade to a GPS with a transducer. Although the BlueCharts software has always been a top seller with the marine community, the software only provided details for the Great Lakes, East Coast and West Coast.
