The warmer weather is here and riders have started bringing their motorcycles out of hiding. While prepping for summer road trips, some riders have difficulty deciding where on their motorcycle they should mount a GPS. Below, one of our customers, Antar, shares how he resolved the issue.
Antar explains, "[I was] looking for a quality and reliable bracket for my Garmin GPSMAP 62s to use on my R1200 GS. I searched the web and I found a RAM Mount." Antar's GPS of choice was GPSMAP 62s, an outdoor unit featuring 3-axis tilt-compensated electronic compass and a barometric altimeter. After researching, Antar decided on the RAM Mount U-Bolt Motorcycle Mount which is designed with RAM Mount's patented ball and socket system that allows movement. The movement lets users find their optimal viewing positioning when on a motorcycle. Also, the base of the mount is completely rust proof and designed to withstand the outdoor elements.
Antar continues, "So after I installed my RAM Mount Garmin GPSMAP 62 Motorcycle Mount RAM-B-149-GA41U, I decided to share the photos because I believe the placement of the GPS is superb. It doesn't interfere or block the instruments. You can change the angle of the ram mount depending on the angle of the wind shield. And no problems at all."
Overall, Antar found the mount was "very easy to install" with a "simple and very clever design." Recommending his set up to other motorcycle riders, he concludes, "I'm very happy with the RAM Mount for GPSMAP 62."
