One of Garmin's most popular handheld series is being upgraded. The GPSMAP 60 series reigned supreme for many years due to it's incredible versatility and rugged design. Now its replacement, the new GPSMAP 62 line, includes three units, each varying slightly from the others depending on features needed.
The trio begins with the GPSMAP 62, which encompasses many of the same design features as the older 60Cx. Additional functions on the 62 are paperless geocaching, geotagging for photos, 1.7 GB of internal memory for adding maps and access to Garmin Connect: an online sharing community.
Stepping up one level brings us to the GPSMAP 62s offering all of the same features of the 62; plus expandability for maps with a microSD card slot, and 1.7GB of internal memory. Not to mention high-speed USB connectivity and a barometric altimeter with 3-axis compass.
The top of the series boasts the GPSMAP 62st, which includes everything from the previous units, with the added bonus of preloaded topography mapping, and while it does have the microSD card slot, only offers 500MB of internal memory for additional map information.
Rugged, user-friendly and fully capable, the new 62 line-up is sure to make current and prospective GPS users very happy.
